This individual is responsible for the smooth operation of the house, typically both the lobby and audience seating area or auditorium during the run of the show. The House Manager welcomes the public to the theatre and oversees the safety and well-being before, during, and immediately following the show. They answer questions, listen to patron complaints and compliments, and concerns and make audience members feel welcome. The House Manager oversees the volunteers and some front-of-house staff as these may be the only members of the company whom the audience interact with on a regular basis, so their interactions are of prime importance.
