Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for processing invoices and cash receipts; assisting with data entry and file maintenance.  This position is required to monitor, control, and audit financial transactions, (including Box Office when applicable) and to perform a full range of professional accounting duties involved in fiscal management, record keeping, reporting and financial analysis of the ice center and concert venue.  They may be required to perform various general office support tasks when necessary

The Centene Community Ice Center and Saint Louis Music Park in Maryland Heights, MO (a suburb of St. Louis) opened in September 2019 and is privately managed by OVG360.

Centene Community Ice Center is as a state-of-the-art facility designed for hockey programming that is curated for all ages and skill levels. It houses three sheets of ice year-round and also features an outdoor rink for use in winter months. It is the official practice facility for the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) and serves as the home rink for Lindenwood University (NCAA DI). Alongside hockey development programs, the facility also offers freestyle skating and daily public skate sessions providing a unique experience for locals to get on the ice.

Saint Louis Music Park is a 4,500-seat outdoor venue that hosts concerts, festivals, local markets, and more. Performers have included Alicia Keys, Machine Gun Kelly, The Avett Brothers, 5 Seconds of Summer, Jack White, and many more. It offers an intimate outdoor amphitheater experience and boasts a fan-centric pavilion featuring food trucks, picnic tables, yard games, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Process and prepare accounts payable invoices.
  • Process new hires, collection and verification of onboarding paperwork.
  • Verify semi-weekly payroll hours and upload to Corporate payroll department.
  • Verify and post journal entries to subsidiary and general ledger accounts.
  • Detail processing for accounts receivable, and collections for outstanding payments.
  • Assist Director of Finance with month end closing procedures.
  • Perform related professional accounting work in support of accounting functions.
  • Examine and verify a variety of financial documents and reports.
  • Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and auditing work.
  • Apply accounting principles to the maintenance of financial and accounting transactions and audit of financial records involved for in-house food and beverage operations.
  • Work with the Director of Finance to develop and administer appropriate accounting procedures related to the handling of financial transactions for the building.
  • Prepare various operational and financial reports regarding areas of financial responsibility
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of professional accounting experience preferably including some supervisory experience and significant work in financial auditing. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, or business administration or a closely related field.  Additional years of experience may be substituted for formal education.
  • Ability to work schedule (could include nights, weekends, and holidays)
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid drivers’ license
  • Ability to multitask, organized, and focused on customer service.
  • Procedures, methods, applications and techniques of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to a variety of accounting audits, transactions, and problems.
  • Principles and practices of financial auditing and inventory accounting methods.
  • Operate a ten key calculator by touch at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
  • Operate a computer to perform accounting functions.
  • Modern office procedures, methods and related computer equipment.
  • Proficient in SAGE 100 software
  • Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; training on industry specific software will be provided.
  • Terminology used in the convention, trade show, and entertainment industry.
  • Relevant federal, state and local regulations
