Overview

The Operations Manager will supervise and coordinate Chartway Arena, and Multi-Purpose Room conversions and be responsible for setup of venue equipment and supplies at Kornblau Field for ODU Football games & special events at SB Ballard Stadium.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate Chartway Arena, and Multi-Purpose Room conversions (basketball to concert, trade shows, small meetings, etc.).
  • Responsible for setup of venue equipment and supplies at Kornblau Field for ODU Football games & special events at SB Ballard Stadium.
  • Oversee hiring, training, scheduling, and managing of changeover and operations staff.
  • Manage and train event support staff (stand-by, fire panel, chair sets & strikes) during events.
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Operations with the daily maintenance & operations of the building such as, painting, plumbing, small repairs, changing light bulbs, etc.
  • Supervise assigned projects and give updates on projects to Assistant Director of Operations in a timely manner.
  • Organize all Arena storage rooms and tool inventory to be in neat and working order.
  • Maintain and keep an inventory of all Arena event equipment (staging, basketball equipment, tools, tables, chairs, etc.).
  • Coordinate and supervise third party vendors and groups who are contracted with the facility.
  • Oversee opening or closing of Arena for a move-in or move-out.
  • Build and maintain tenant relations.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders on changeover and project schedules (Aramark, Housekeeping, Events department, etc) to be able to foster a “one team” atmosphere.
  • Assist in the purchasing or renting of event equipment, and budgeting of repairs and maintenance. Submit final invoices to Assistant Director of Events.
  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager with projects as needed
  • Act as Manager on Duty as needed.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree in sports management or other related fields and have experience with facility coordination and direct employee supervision.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills and be able to function in a multi-task
  • Must possess the ability to work effectively under pressure and/or strict schedules and produce accurate results; must possess the ability to work independently and exercise proper judgment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Must be posses the ability to meet the physical demands of this job which include being able to access all areas of the facility, lifting, carrying up to sixty (60) pounds, moving, climbing , and working at various heights.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, interpret AutoCAD drawings and execute plans.
  • Must possess the ability to work a flexible schedule to include mostly overnights, days, weekends, extend number of consecutive days, and holidays.
  • Forklift certification preferred. Aerial lift certifications preferred
