Dallas Fair Park covers 277 acres just east of downtown Dallas.   Its cultural, educational and sporting facilities play host to more than 4 million people annually. Dallas Fair Park hosts more than 1200 activities and events each year including festivals, fairs, concerts and theatrical productions, while also being home to historical art exhibits, sporting events, garden activities and much more.


OVG is searching for an Sr. HVAC Technician for our operation at Dallas Fair Park, located in Dallas, TX.


Under general direction, performs advanced journey level and leadwork duties in the technical operation, maintenance and repair of various HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing and auxiliary systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of complex MEP systems in a widely dispersed building.


  • Diagnose and repair problems within the following HVAC/R equipment systems: Heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning systems and associated equipment such as VRF systems, multi-zone units, electrical controls, pneumatic controls, steam coils, chilled water systems, self-contained heating and cooling units, exhaust systems, ice machines, walk-in freezers/coolers, pumps, air compressors, ductwork, cooling towers and other miscellaneous equipment.
  • Regularly monitor and adjust building automation controls to achieve optimum comfort and energy savings.
  • Participate in the operation, maintenance and repair of diverse facility equipment, minor electrical, lighting, commercial kitchen and plumbing repairs to expedite the return of equipment or auxiliary systems to operational status
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment; oils and lubricates fans, motors, pumps, compressors, cleans screens and coils, strainers, burners, automatic controls, change filters, clean coils etc.
  • Track daily productivity via timesheets, daily logs and CMMS.
  • Communicate arrival, location and departure with Facilities Manager.
  • Perform event related duties, set-ups and coverage as assigned
  • Clearly, effectively, and timely communicate work issues with staff
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients
  • Other duties as assigned





  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of direct experience in HVAC/R and controls.
  • Experience with computerized building automation systems.
  • Possession of Universal CFC license.
  • Possession of a CT D-2 license or substitution of technical trade school and experience.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software, general computers and understanding of basic IT function.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have availability to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Solid problem solving skills

Intellectual/Social demands:


While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to multi-task under time limits and with moderate to high pressure situations.  Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time; Position also requires frequent use of interpersonal skills with staff including following both verbal and written instructions.  Employee must be able to recognize and resolve conflicts in being able to openly communicate with all staff.  This position requires employee to frequently work both independently and as part of a team for variety of tasks. 


Physical demands:


While performing duties of the job, the employee frequently lifts and moves facility equipment, supplies and/or tools.  Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events; position will require employee to frequently bend, stoop, or crouch in order to evaluate and inspect equipment and building infrastructure; employee will as needed, operate fork lift and or high lift in assessment of and maintenance of the building and equipment.  Employee will occasionally be required to identify or match colors/tones of wire, wood, paint or other equipment. Employee will occasionally operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, copy machines and printers; employee will constantly communicate via radio, telephone, email and in-person with staff to exchange accurate information. Employee will frequently, throughout maintenance, operations and business demands, lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.


Work environment:


The duties of this position are performed primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and when not operating equipment and moderate to loud during event days when equipment is in operation.
