Nestled in the heart of Miami Beach, the state-of-the-art convention center offers flexible special event and exhibition spaces near beautiful beaches, fine dining and 5-star resorts. The HVAC Tech/Mechanic position is responsible for the day to day operations and handling of A/C and mechanical maintenance on equipment.  Also develops, operates and maintains all H.V.A.C systems and assures all package units and refrigeration units are given technical attention. 



  • Operate and maintain computerized HVAC equipment. Work in conjunction with the electrical department on fire alarm system and energy management programs; perform maintenance on HVAC with electrician as required.
  • Repair and maintain HVAC equipment.
  • Repair and maintain pumps related to HVAC.
  • Ability to work with and evaluate outside service contractors.
  • Monitor chemical treatment to cooling towers and chillers.
  • Monitor event schedules, start up of equipment, monitoring, and shut down as required.
  • Performs plumbing maintenance to the fire sprinkler system to the degree approved by the AC Supervisor and Chief Engineer.
  • Performs plumbing maintenance and repair to all center plumbing and atmospheric control systems including sprinkler systems and fountains.
  • Inspect and monitor internal systems and physical plant equipment as required.
  • Assist external maintenance contractors
  • Assist Inventory Manager in maintaining adequate inventory of parts and tools.
  • Other duties and responsabilities as assigned.




This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.




  • Knowledge of H.V.A.C. systems and refrigeration.
  • Requires 3 to 5 years of HVAC and plumbing experience in a public assembly facility.


  • Demonstrated plumbing and welding expertise and knowledge sufficient to assume responsibility for a large facility.
  • Demonstrated atmospheric control experience by correctly operating chiller, automatic pump systems, air handlers, hot water heaters, and other related equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and sketches and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management.
  • Ability to read blueprints and diagrams.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.


  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office.


  • Requires journeyman’s license in HVAC.
  • Required to hold a certified E.P.A license.

The employee is constantly required to exert various types of physical exertion, such as prolonged reaching, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.




The work schedule for this position fluctuates based upon the needs of a particular event or project, which would require the ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights, early mornings, long days, weekends, and holidays.
