Position Summary

The Catering Supervisor supports the Catering Manager in the planning and execution of catering operations and assists with concessions as needed. This position is responsible for administrative support, event setup and tear-down, staff supervision, client relations, and on-site event execution. The Catering Supervisor provides hands-on leadership during assigned events, including directing and training staff, coordinating service and event logistics, maintaining company standards, and addressing operational needs. Employee performance concerns are communicated to the Catering Manager, who retains responsibility for formal employment actions. This position requires excellent communication, organization, leadership, and customer service skills, along with strong computer and POS aptitude. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a flexible, event-driven schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $26.00 - $31.00

About the Venue

The Ford Idaho Center is a premier multi-venue sports and entertainment complex located in Nampa, Idaho. The facility includes an indoor arena, outdoor amphitheater, Horse Park and Sports Center, hosting concerts, rodeos, sporting events, equestrian competitions, trade shows, community events, and private functions throughout the year. The Nampa Civic Center is a versatile event and performing arts venue in Nampa, Idaho, hosting conferences, meetings, weddings, banquets, community events, and live entertainment. The facility offers flexible event spaces, a theater, and full-service catering and hospitality options.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Catering Manager with the overall management and execution of catering operations and supports concession operations as needed.
  • Assists with the coordination and execution of catered events from initial setup through event completion and tear-down.
  • Reviews event details, BEOs, timelines, room setups, staffing needs, and service expectations to ensure successful event execution.
  • Serves as an on-site point of contact for clients during assigned events, providing professional communication and addressing event needs or changes.
  • Provides guidance, supervision, training, and mentoring to hourly catering and event staff.
  • Supervises and leads event staff in setup, service, breakdown, and proper storage of catering equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinates communication between catering staff, culinary teams, clients, and other venue departments throughout events.
  • Monitors product quality, presentation, service standards, and overall guest experience.
  • Assists with administrative duties including employee scheduling, time verification, event documentation, inventory, and departmental reporting.
  • Documents and communicates employee performance, attendance, or conduct concerns to the Catering Manager in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensures compliance with all alcohol service policies and immediately reports compliance concerns to management.
  • Assists with POS troubleshooting and supports event-related POS operations as necessary.
  • Maintains clean, organized, and event-ready catering spaces, storage areas, and equipment.
  • Anticipates and resolves operational challenges during events while escalating significant concerns to the Catering Manager.
  • Performs other duties and supports Catering and Concessions operations as assigned based on venue and event needs.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience in catering/hospitality. Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Familiar with inventory cost control and menu planning.
  • Basic computer proficiency: e-mail, Excel, Word, Outlook, Schedule+.
  • Working knowledge of POS and timekeeping systems.
  • Ability to work a variable work schedule (including evenings and weekends, as required), depending upon event and business requirements.
  • ServSafe certification.
  • Strong communication skills.
