Position Summary

The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives that drive event awareness, ticket sales, attendance, and fan engagement at Ryan Field. This position leads marketing campaigns for Ryan Field, concerts, and special events while collaborating with internal departments, promoters, university partners, sponsors, and external agencies to maximize revenue and enhance the guest experience. The Marketing Manager oversees digital marketing, advertising, email campaigns, social media strategy, content development, promotional initiatives, and brand execution to position Ryan Field as a premier destination for sports and live entertainment. This position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on the event schedule.

 

This role pays an annual salary of $65,000 - $75,000.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns for football games, concerts, and special events.
  • Create strategic marketing plans designed to drive ticket sales, attendance, premium seating, and event awareness.
  • Collaborate with Northwestern Athletics, promoters, artists, event organizers, and Oak View Group leadership to develop event-specific marketing strategies.
  • Manage paid advertising campaigns across digital, social media, radio, television, print, and out-of-home media.
  • Oversee email marketing campaigns, website content, and digital communications.
  • Coordinate promotional events, community outreach initiatives, and grassroots marketing efforts.
  • Monitor ticket sales trends and adjust marketing strategies to maximize revenue and attendance.
  • Analyze campaign performance using data and analytics and prepare reports with recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with advertising agencies, media partners, designers, and production vendors.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all marketing materials and communications.
  • Coordinate creative asset development, including digital graphics, signage, video content, and promotional materials.
  • Support sponsorship activation and collaborate with Corporate Partnerships on marketing initiatives.
  • Assist with media events, press conferences, and promotional appearances as needed.
  • Manage departmental budgets, invoices, and marketing expenditures.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging marketing technologies, and fan engagement strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of marketing experience in sports, live entertainment, hospitality, higher education, or a related industry.
  • Experience developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing, social media platforms, email marketing, and paid advertising.
  • Experience analyzing campaign performance using marketing analytics.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in collegiate athletics, professional sports, live entertainment, or venue management.
  • Experience working with ticketing platforms and CRM systems such as Ticketmaster, Paciolan, Salesforce, or similar.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, and email marketing platforms.
  • Experience managing agency relationships and creative production.
  • Graphic design or content management system (CMS) experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to work throughout the stadium during events.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on event schedules.
