Position Summary

The Director of Sales is responsible for generating revenue through the sale of marketing partnerships across all business lines, including intellectual property rights, experiential, media, branding, signage, hospitality, events, and promotions, with a specific focus on the MASL Lehigh Valley Spirits. This position will work directly with Vice President of Corporate and Premium Sales and will contribute to the overall sales and servicing of our corporate partnership and premium seating offerings at the venue. The position will assist and often oversee initiatives related to CRM, revenue strategy, and sales collateral/proposal development, in addition to prospecting best practices. Compensation will consist of base salary plus sales commission. This position will be responsible for achieving measurable financial results.

 

This role pays an annual salary of $88,000-$103,000 and is commission eligible.

About the Venue

This position on our Global Partnerships team is located at the PPL Center (Allentown, PA). The Director of Sales will be responsible for generating revenue from local, regional, and national companies through the sale of advertising sponsorships and premium seating offerings, including the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL Affiliate), the Lehigh Valley Spirits (MASL), and the PPL Center (venue).

PPL Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose arena in downtown Allentown, PA managed by OVG360 and home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The arena seats more than 10,000 for concerts and more than 8,500 for Lehigh Valley Phantoms professional hockey games, making it the region's largest events venue. The amenities-packed PPL Center hosts more than 150 events each year, offering something for everyone, including the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the AHL affiliate of the NHL Philadelphia Flyers, live concerts, family shows, trade shows, youth sports, high school and collegiate events, conferences, graduations and many more.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing new advertising partnerships to achieve annual revenue goals by selling Phantoms/Spirits/PPL Center assets
  • Conduct new prospect outreach as a way of securing appointments to sell to new prospects among local and national companies.
  • Oversee and implement CRM/Salesforce initiatives
  • Support and work closely with regional management and on-site local management.
  • Effectively present proposals in front of key decision-makers
  • Leverage your passion and empathy to develop a long-term business partnership between your client and the venues.
  • Work closely with the Event Services and Marketing teams to ensure that current clients receive superior service and fulfillment of each contract.
  • Prepare advertising, sponsorship and premium seating contracts and addenda; identify issues with contract language; negotiate corporate sales pricing and other rates as required
  • Utilize event and premium seating to ensure excellent game/event day experiences.
  • Develop sales action plans to ensure hitting budget goals, including new cash partnerships.
  • Prospect, sell, cultivate, and maintain the corporate sponsorships for the venues in both new and renewal business, with a specific focus on the Lehigh Valley Spirits (MASL)
  • Develop relationships with brands in the region for potential synergy across the OVG portfolio.
  • Work with outside agencies to get all corporate partnerships' signage created and placed.
  • Work with the partner services manager in creating year-end recaps of season for corporate partners
  • Service all corporate sponsorships through various means, including direct contact, newsletters, corporate partner gatherings, etc.
  • Create and present integrated marketing packages using traditional, digital and other non-traditional marketing channels to meet clients' objectives
  • Work and attend events, promotions, and OVG Corporate Sales events.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent training & experience.
  • 5-7 years of sales experience with an emphasis on college or professional athletics, entertainment, larger market media (TV, radio), and/or sponsorship sales.
  • Proven track record of developing and managing highly strategic corporate partnerships; strong prospecting, analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proven success in establishing and meeting challenging sales objectives in a high-profile, competitive marketplace.
  • Comfortable managing tight deadlines and meeting aggressive sales goals and expectations.
  • Strong professional relationship-building skills; ability to establish and maintain long-term strategic relationships with corporate clients, direct reports, and co-workers.
  • Must be a skilled negotiator with the ability to effectively represent the standards and philosophy of the department.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Salesforce/KORE (CRM) is mandatory.
  • Ability to manage a team of sales and service members, including providing sales coaching and training.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude that contributes to the company culture.
  • Able to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and adept at working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work nights, all events, weekends, events, and holidays as required.
  • Local knowledge of the region/Allentown market is preferred.
  • Has a strong track record of building relationships and generating new business.
  • Excellent leadership and customer service skills.
  • Enthusiastic and positive thinker.
  • Strong PC and data processing skills; working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, as well as database management software.
