Position Summary

The Banquet Server is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service during meetings, conferences, banquets, weddings, concerts, and special events. This position assists with event setup, service execution, and breakdown while delivering professional, courteous, and attentive service to guests. Banquet Servers work as part of a team to ensure every event is executed efficiently and according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and company service standards.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $30.00 - $36.00

About the Venue

Oak View Group is proud to operate the food and beverage program at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. The hospitality operation features a diverse portfolio of dining experiences, including a multi-concept café, a modern luxury restaurant, a licensed Starbucks location, and a robust special events catering program. The team is dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences through outstanding food, service, and hospitality within one of the nation's premier cultural destinations.

Responsibilities

  • Set up banquet rooms and event spaces according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), including tables, chairs, linens, china, glassware, flatware, and décor.
  • Provide professional food and beverage service for plated meals, buffets, receptions, coffee breaks, and beverage stations.
  • Serve food and beverages using established service standards and proper serving techniques.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and beverage offerings to answer guest questions.
  • Monitor guest needs throughout events and respond promptly to requests.
  • Clear tables, refresh beverages, and maintain a clean and organized event space during service.
  • Assist with buffet setup, replenishment, and breakdown.
  • Support banquet bartenders and beverage stations as needed.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, alcohol service, and workplace safety standards.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, transporting, and storing banquet equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in opening, closing, event setup, and post-event breakdown.
  • Maintain cleanliness of banquet rooms, service stations, storage areas, and back-of-house workspaces.
  • Work collaboratively with banquet captains, culinary staff, stewards, and other team members to ensure successful event execution.
  • Provide exceptional guest service while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous banquet, restaurant, catering, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to follow directions and maintain attention to detail.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Food Handler Certification required (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
  • Alcohol service certification required if serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive hand movements.
  • Ability to carry trays, move banquet equipment, and perform physical event setup and breakdown.
