David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium is the home of the University of Kansas Jayhawks football program and serves as a premier collegiate athletics and event venue on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence, Kansas. Originally opened in 1921 as a memorial to KU students who lost their lives in World War I, the stadium is one of the oldest college football stadiums in the United States and the oldest west of the Mississippi River.
The facility is currently undergoing a multi-phase transformation that modernizes the stadium while preserving its historic significance. The renovated complex includes a new seating bowl, premium hospitality spaces, suites, club seating, enhanced concourses, upgraded restrooms and concessions, expanded football operations facilities, advanced audiovisual systems, and a conference center capable of hosting meetings, banquets, and special events year-round. The stadium functions as a multi-use facility supporting NCAA Division I football games, university events, conferences, community gatherings, and special events. Building systems include modern HVAC equipment, electrical distribution systems, plumbing infrastructure, life-safety systems, elevators, building automation controls, commercial kitchen facilities, video boards, sports lighting, and premium guest-service amenities. Following renovation, the facility will remain a cornerstone of the University of Kansas campus and the larger Gateway District development, providing an enhanced game-day experience while serving as a year-round destination for athletics, business, entertainment, and community engagement.
