Position Summary

The Housekeeping Crew is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and organized environment throughout the facility. This position performs daily cleaning and sanitation tasks in offices, common areas, restrooms, breakrooms, and entryways to ensure a professional appearance and healthy workplace for employees and visitors. Team members are expected to follow cleaning schedules, properly use cleaning equipment and supplies, and support overall facility cleanliness standards.

 

This role will pay an hourly rate of $14.00 - $16.00.

This position will remain open until August 28, 2026.

About the Venue

The mission of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts is to enrich the lives of residents and guests by providing great and diverse performances, experiences, and educational programs for the arts. In doing so, the Sandler Center will serve as a home for regional and community arts organizations that contribute to the arts and culture of Virginia Beach.

Responsibilities

  • Surface Cleaning & Dusting: Wipe down desks, tables, and fixtures; dust shelves, partitions, and baseboards.
  • Glass cleaning of windows and doors in entry areas of the building.
  • Cleaning & Sanitizing: Wiping down and disinfecting kitchens and common areas of the building.
  • Floor Care: Sweep, mop, and vacuum all common areas, hallways, and workspaces.
  • Buff, wax, or shampoo carpets as scheduled (to be done by floor tech).
  • Restroom Sanitation: Thoroughly clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, and mirrors. Restock toiletries like toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.
  • Waste Management: Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
  • Breakroom Maintenance: Clean microwaves, refrigerators, and coffee stations.
  • Supply Inventory: Monitor and request cleaning supplies to always ensure adequate stock levels.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of previous cleaning experience in janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
  • Ability to push/pull heavy cleaning carts and lift tables and chairs for event setup and breakdown.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Safety Protocol: Knowledge of OSHA regulations and proper handling of chemical cleaning agents.
  • Maintenance Reporting: Ability to spot and report facility damage or required repairs to building management.
  • Laundry: ability to wash and dry-clean rags, mop heads, towels, and table coverings.
  • Reliability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
