Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Supervisor, HVAC and Building Systems will assist in supervising and coordinating the activities and operations of the Engineering Department, including safety, security, and event staffing functions. This position provides highly responsible staff support to the Engineering Manager.

 

This role pays an annual salary of $60,000-$63,000

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall operations and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
  • Ensure optimal performance of water-cooled chillers, cooling towers, VAV boxes, AHUs, and fan coil units
  • Plan, assign, and supervise daily maintenance activities
  • Integrate Metasys BMS controls into workflow for monitoring and diagnostics
  • Evaluate work methods, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution
  • Ensure compliance with standards set by Palm Beach County
  • Maintain accurate CM and PM records in MicroMain
  • Generate reports on system performance using Metasys
  • Oversee HVAC and utility service setup for events
  • Coordinate with concessionaires and monitor external contractors and engineers
  • Hire, train, and evaluate HVAC and maintenance staff
  • Provide training on HVAC systems, Metasys, and facility operations
  • Implement disciplinary actions as needed
  • Assist in department budget planning and monitoring
  • Manage inventory of HVAC components, supplies, and refrigerants
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations and MSDS documentation
  • Ensure adherence to HVAC-related federal, state, and local regulations
  • Metasys BMS Expertise: Proven ability to monitor and optimize HVAC performance using Johnson Controls Metasys
  • HVAC System Proficiency: Skilled in commercial HVAC systems, including diagnostics and repair
  • Computer Literacy: Strong computer skills in building management systems, CMMS software, and MS Office Suite
  • System-Wide Knowledge: Capable of handling repairs across multiple facility systems (plumbing, electrical, structure)
  • Leadership: Demonstrated supervisory experience in fast-paced, large-scale facilities

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with commercial HVAC systems, including:
    • Water- and air-cooled chillers
    • Cooling towers, VAVs, AHUs, fan coil units
  • 2–3+ years of supervisory or lead-level experience managing staff or contractors
  • Extensive experience with Johnson Controls Metasys BMS (required or strongly preferred)
  • Proficiency in building maintenance software such as MicroMain or similar CMMS
  • Experience in high-demand facilities (e.g., convention centers, hotels, hospitals, or sports venues)
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, HVAC safety standards, and hazardous materials communication protocols
  • Specialized training or certifications in HVAC or building maintenance systems preferred
