Position Summary

The Electrician completes maintenance, operation, and repair of building electrical systems by performing the following duties:

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $42.40 (per CBA).


This position will remain open until December 5, 2025.

About the Venue

As a leading entertainment venue, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania, and home to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures OSHA compliance.
  • Assigned specifications, projects, and other duties as assigned from the Lead Electrician.
  • Performs daily work and informs Lead Electrician when work is complete.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, and equipment throughout the facility.
  • Distributes and picks up power drops as needed.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, etc.
  • Notifies the Lead Electrician regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.

Hours

This position has flexible hours that includes early mornings, days, evenings, holidays, and extended long workdays.  

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Strong electrical systems, generators, lighting controls, and power distribution knowledge.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours.
  • Demonstrated experience with maintenance and repair of electrical power generating equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use power and hand tools.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand English.
  • Ability to lift and push/pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Good verbal and interpersonal skills required
  • Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff including management
  • Ability to work irregular hours including, evenings, weekends and holidays – Shifts vary and are dependent upon scheduled events.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
  • Requires a large amount of walking, stair climbing, and standing to access all seating areas. 
  • May be exposed to high noise levels. 
  • Requires work in both indoor and outdoor settings and may be subjected to adverse conditions.
