Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Graphic Design is primarily responsible for developing and executing design and marketing materials that support the company’s objectives. This role is key in supporting the look and feel, and also the production of internal and public-facing marketing materials for Acrisure Arena, The Coachella Valley Firebirds, Berger Foundation Iceplex and The One Valley Foundation Organizations. An interest in the Live Entertainment & Sports industries are beneficial for this fast-paced environment.

 

The candidate for this role must be capable of interacting with all levels of personnel and move interchangeably between a variety of projects and tasks on any given day, delivering all creative projects to deadline and in accordance with pre-determined designs, stye-guides, and quality of brand standards. Self-motivated, self-managed, ability to execute and pivot quickly between projects & deadlines, along with the ability to efficiently multi-task are prerequisites to success.This position supports 4 unique brands and reports directly to the Senior Director of Branding & Design Services with significant control and judgement of the Brands.

 

This position will pay an annual salary of $90,000-$94,000 and is bonus eligible.

Acrisure Arena:

America’s hottest music festival destination finally has the world-class arena it deserves. Opened December 2022, the Acrisure Arena provides the greater Palm Springs area of Southern California with a premiere 11,000+ capacity venue to host the hottest live sports events and biggest artist acts on the planet. Designed specifically for hockey and concerts, the new arena provides top-tier hospitality, artist amenities, and all of the benefits of a modern music and sports venue.

 

Coachella Valley Firebirds:

The Coachella Valley Firebirds are the AHL’s 32nd Franchise and the affiliate of the Seattle Kraken. The Firebirds are the league's back-to-back Western Conference Champions and the 2024 Calder Cup Pacific Division Champions. The 2024-2025 season will open on October 11.

 

The Berger Foundation Iceplex:

The Iceplex serves as a welcoming year-round refuge for locals and visitors to skate, train and have FUN.

The 36,000sf Iceplex, located adjacent to Acrisure Arena, features a 250-spectator seat NHL ice rink, four locker rooms, two party room areas, and a mezzanine for skaters and viewers to enjoy concessions while connecting with friends. A myriad of special events is open to the public, including hockey and skating programs, tournaments, exhibition ice shows plus themed and charitable activities to include DJ Skate nights, Frozen 5k and more.

One Valley Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of the Coachella Valley Firebirds’ commitment to our community. The Foundation’s goal is to have all money raised remain in our valley, serving all 9 cities.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Design Stewardship: Develop top-level design strategy and lead brand-building projects for Acrisure Arena, Coachella Valley Firebirds, Berger Foundation Iceplex & One Valley Foundation.
  • Design Leadership: Maintains understanding of all of the projects in the design queue and provides creative inspiration to design team members as they embark on the work.
  • Reviews and approves all design work from the creative team, providing constructive feedback ensuring it meets the brief and maintains high standards.
  • Assists in the strategic presentation of the department’s creative work and capturing feedback for subsequent rounds.
  • Project Management: As the design leader, deliver guidance in the equitable distribution of creative work across brands and team members, including being responsible for the design departments project management process and shifting the team’s work assignments to ensure deadlines are being met.
  • Vendor Management: Manage creative relationships with contractors, vendors, partners and other departments to ensure creative projects are executed accurately and received on-time.
  • This could include writing RFPs and developing quote templates for reoccurring projects.
  • Staff Mentorship: Provides mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members, helping them grow their skills and knowledge.
  • Staff Management: Engage in co-managing of administrative duties in conjunction with the Sr Director of Brand & Creative, including hiring process, employee reviews, budget management, etc.
  • Primary Creative Design and Production of Marketing Materials for Acrisure Arena, The Coachella Valley Firebirds, Berger Foundation Iceplex and The One Valley Foundation, including advertising materials both print and digital including sales and marketing media/campaigns, OOH, marquees, newsletters, sales presentations, and other digital collateral & communications.
  • Printed materials such as signage, merchandising displays and promotional items.
  • Resizing tour provided artwork and/or generating versions of artwork to fit with Acrisure Arena’s promotional needs.
  • Design, management & archiving of all company graphic elements and branding concepts.
  • Digital image editing.
  • Establish, maintain and organize a marketing database of images, photographs, videos, and collateral, both on local servers and Aprimo DAM System.
  • In tandem with the Senior Director of Branding and Creative Services, performs quality checks on final designs to ensure information is correct and they meet brand standards and specifications across 4 unique organizaional brands.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all design projects.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and seamlessly while meeting deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five Years Plus (5+) of Creative Design, Graphics and Brand Experience in the Entertainment Market.
  • Three to Five Years Plus (3-5) of progressive supervisory experience of a creative department.
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in Graphic Design, Visual Arts or a related field is preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, & Illustrator,) and Canva is required.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, and Teams.
  • Knowledge and ability to research, and search for Stock Photography, and other creative asset sites such as AdobeStock, Creative Market, and Envato.
  • Work will be tracked via a Project Management software so familiarity with these types of systems is required for workflow optimization.
  • Ability to coordinate projects with outside vendors and agencies, including acquiring project estimates and graphic/proof editing, printing and delivery deadlines.
  • Ability to execute digital communication campaigns on various social media platforms such as Facebook & Instagram, and @Threads (Meta), Twitter (X), LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Strong understanding of design principles for both digital & print, typography, and color theory.
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to be adaptable and a willingness to learn.
