Position Summary

This position is based at Angel Of The Winds Arena in Everett, WA. The Building Engineer is part of our Engineering Department who maintain all facility systems and equipment.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $30.00-$32.00.

About the Venue

Angel Of The Winds Arena was developed and is owned by the Everett Public Facilities District, a municipal corporation managed by a five-member Board of Directors, providing oversight and direction to the provision of services in Angel Of The Winds Arena, Everett Community Ice Rink and the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center. Angel Of The Winds Arena is a three venue, state-of-the-art multi-purpose complex located in the heart of downtown Everett, WA. The complex is managed by Oak View Group. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance, operations and repairs at the Everett Events Center, including HVAC, electrical/lighting systems, mechanical and plumbing systems, refrigeration equipment, (anhydrous ammonia as well as freon systems) ice floors, cooling towers, boilers, water pumps and building control systems.
  • Participate in support of events; coordinate arrangements with events and operations departments, contractors and clients; monitor and/or direct the work of contractors on building projects.
  • Participate in project and maintenance planning for facility infrastructure and operations; identify and resolve problems; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work projects, methods and procedures.
  • Monitor and communicate expenditures for equipment, materials, and supplies; oversee supplies and materials for maintenance programs within budget guidelines; receive and maintain supplies. 
  • Except for trivial purchases, obtain Chief Engineers approval before ordering supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous materials communication program, material safety data sheets and required records and permits; maintain knowledge of changes in pertinent Federal, State and Local regulations.
  • Ensure a safe work environment at all times.
  • Participate in emergency response including fire alarms and power outages; wear proper PPE where appropriate.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Display a calm, respectful demeaner when dealing with coworkers, patrons or event personnel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four (4) years experience in building maintenance; experience in plumbing, electrical, building repair and carpentry work preferred.
  • Experience in an ice arena, sports & entertainment or hospitality industry strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; must possess a valid Washington State drivers license and a good driving record.
  • Must be certified to operate a forklift; specialized training/experience in the repair and maintenance of building HVAC and related systems preferred.
  • Certifications required: 07 Electrical License; Refrigeration unlimited - ammonia systems (06 Refrigeration License preferred); 4th grade or higher Steam Engineers’ license.
  • EPA CFC Universal preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders required; must be able to be fitted for respiratory equipment; must have experience with power and hand tools.
  • Must be familiar with and practice OSHA safety policies.
  • Required to work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed due to event schedules, unexpected equipment issues etc. and must be able to be on call for weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Must exercise a strong sense of urgency to address safety, maintenance, operational and security issues.
  • Must be able to safely work from heights using ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts etc.
  • Must be able to work outdoors occasionally no matter the weather conditions.
