Position Summary

The Arena Audio Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of all audio equipment used during events at the arena. This includes public address (PA) systems, monitors, microphones, mixing consoles, and any associated cabling or digital systems. The technician ensures high-quality sound delivery for a wide range of events including concerts, sports games, ceremonies, and other live performances.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $18.00-$21.00.

About the Venue

Liberty First Credit Union Arena is an indoor arena located in the Ralston/Omaha, Nebraska area. The 200,000 sq. ft. arena can accommodate up to 4,400 patrons and hosts 350,000+ attendees at upwards of 150 concerts, sporting events, family shows, and other events every year. The arena is home to the USHL Omaha Lancers Hockey team and the NAL Omaha Beef Football team. The arena is just two miles from the interstate and attracts concert goers from a 100-mile radius.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, test, and maintain arena-wide audio systems before, during, and after events.

  • Set up microphones, speakers, mixing boards, and intercoms according to event requirements.

  • Work closely with event promoters, production crews, performers, and in-house staff to meet technical audio specifications.

  • Perform sound checks and make necessary adjustments to achieve optimal sound quality.

  • Troubleshoot audio problems quickly and efficiently under pressure during live events.

  • Maintain and update inventory of all audio equipment and related supplies.

  • Coordinate with video and lighting staff to ensure full integration of production elements.

  • Assist with the installation of new audio equipment or upgrades as needed.

  • Follow all safety and code regulations pertaining to audio system setup and operations.

  • Document and log maintenance, issues, and resolutions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; degree or certification in Audio Engineering, Broadcast Technology, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience operating live sound systems, preferably in a large venue or arena setting.

  • Proficient in analog and digital mixing consoles

  • Working knowledge of RF coordination and wireless microphone systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and signal flow diagrams.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and calm under pressure during live performances.

  • Must be flexible with work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event needs.
