Position Summary

The Changeover Manager assumes management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the operations of the arena,  providing direct supervision of all full-time and part-time changeover employees specifically in the areas of room sets, show care and conversions at the Santander Arena.  

 

This role will pay an annual salary of $45,000-$55,000.

This position will remain open until July 31, 2025. 

About the Venue

Santander Arena, located in downtown Reading, Pennsylvania, is a versatile venue that is serves as the home arena for the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers . The Santander Arena has hosts an array of live events including concerts, Disney on Ice, and other family friendly events attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. 

Responsibilities

  • Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the operations of arena and event set ups 
  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate front-line staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures for changeover staff.  
  • Assist in the planning, direct, coordinate and review the work plans for facility operations 
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Operations budget; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures and implement adjustments as necessary within assigned responsibilities 
  • Develop long range plans for future events 
  • Assigns appropriate changeover personnel to accurately and efficiently set-up and tear down events 
  •  Communicates between shifts the necessary tasks that still need to be completed 
  • Working knowledge of operations equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, retractable seating risers, basketball floors, hockey glass, etc. 
  • Coordinates between changeover crew and housekeeping needs with Housekeeping Manager 
  • Maintains departmental equipment 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in facility management, event management, or related field; experience will be considered in lieu of education  
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an operations / facility position in an arena, convention center, public facility or similar environment; with knowledge of set up/housekeeping and event coordination 
  • Proficient computer skills in a Windows format 
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, internet-based programs, and basic typing skills preferred 
  • Ability to effectively be available via a company provided cell phone, email, text 
  • Ability to effectively lead a large team in a fast paced, high pressure environment 
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other local / state / federal safety standards / requirements 
  • Forklift certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of employment 
  • Possess superior interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills  
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, professionally in-person and in-writing 
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and with a team 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License preferred 
  • Ability to work an event-driven schedule including shifts of 8 hours or more; on varying days, nights, weekends and holidays
