Position Summary

Under general supervision by the General Manager, the Maintenance Technician (Electrician) is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of the electrically powered systems and equipment including distribution systems and equipment along with various general maintenance related tasks including plumbing, painting, trades and grounds keeping. Most of the work takes place in a temperature-controlled environment. Power tools, hand tools and uniforms are provided.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $33.00-$40.00.

About the Venue

The SoFi Center, a first-of-its-kind venue located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL on the campus of Palm Beach State College. SoFi Center will be the home of the TGL Golf League, founded by Mike McCarley, Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy,  TGL presented by SoFi is a new golf league, combining advanced technology with teams of top players from the PGA TOUR for two-hour weekly competitions in prime time starting in January 2025. The arena will seat about 1,500 people and feature matches between teams.

Responsibilities

  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, control theory, NEC wiring standards, electrical troubleshooting & diagnostics, and HVAC control components
  • Install conduit, breakers, service disconnects, receptacles, lighting, switches, emergency lights, etc. and related devices
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment with an emphasis on HVAC: lubricate bearings, motors, pumps, change filters, clean coils, replace and align belts, clean condensate pans, etc
  • Regularly monitor and adjust building automation controls to achieve optimum comfort and energy savings
  • Ability and willingness to rapidly learn new technical skills and apply them in the maintenance and operation of the facility
  • Participate in the support of diverse building needs including drain clearing, basic carpentry & sheet rock, and plumbing repairs to expedite the return of equipment or systems to service. Perform other diverse maintenance duties as assigned
  • Perform event related duties, set-ups and coverage as assigned
  • Clearly, effectively, and timely communicate work issues with manager and staff
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients
  • Track daily productivity via timesheets, daily logs, and CMMS Communicate arrival, location, and departure with General Manager
  • Inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, communication and power circuits and equipment.
  • Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment, using suitable testing instruments.
  • Examine and test elements of electrical systems to locate obvious faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motor brushes
  • Replace faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures and appliances
  • Renew circuits either by isolating and cutting out defective wiring and replacing it with new wiring, or by splicing ends of broken wires
  • Report discrepancies or necessary follow-ups to supervisor
  • Perform and/or manage the installations and break downs of electrical services for events
  • Perform duties and responsibilities with view toward facility goals and energy conservation
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, schematic manufacturer’s specifications and other reference materials to determine appropriate job requirements and procedures
  • Prepare and submit requisitions for materials required to complete assigned tasks
  • Plan work to ensure cost effective use of labor and materials
  • As required, estimate materials needed and record time and materials expended on each work order
  • Operate equipment used in the maintenance of arena facilities such as forklifts, floor scrubbers, scissor lifts, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in the electrical trade
  • Commercial experience needed
  • Possession of a Jouneyman's electrical license
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Experience with computerized building automation systems
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software, general computers and understanding of basic IT functions
  • Ability to communicate clearly in the English language, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
  • Analytical ability for problem solving
