Position Summary

The Security and Parking Manager is responsible for the management and performance of the Security and Parking Department of PPL Center. This position provides oversight, direction and supervision of all matters related to safety and security of the general public, employees, guests and visitors of PPL Center and surrounding property.  They will also coordinate and supervise specific event-related security as required.

 

This role pays an annual salary of $50,000-$52,000.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains security and safety policies, programs, and standard operating procedures to protect and minimize facility liability exposures and losses. Implements improvements/changes as needed.
  • Oversees all security and safety to minimize loss for PPL Center and to ensure the highest possible level of security, safety and comfort to all patrons and employees.
  • Oversees the operational requirements of the department to assure efficient use of manpower and equipment.
  • Identify, control, and rectify all safety and liability exposures. Recommends and implements changes or improvements as needed.
  • Schedule guards and building monitors for day-to-day operations and special events. Continue to adjust and update work schedules to reflect cost efficiency and building activity.
  • Responsible for all security systems, key control issues and photo ID badge program.
  • Directs investigations related to security incidents, loss prevention issues, or other facility/company issues.
  • Serves as the liaison with Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement agencies in the development of any investigations, asset protection programs or other. Works in coordination with all appropriate law enforcement organizations and security associations to insure efficient operations and event requirements such as dignitary visits. 
  • Serves as liaison and works closely with event organizers, show managers and show contractors, and staff in all matters involving show security/traffic and safety.
  • Develops, directs and oversees all PPL Center programs and procedures related to fire prevention, emergency response, and emergency medical care. Assures that all show managers, show contractors and exhibitors are in compliance with city fire codes.
  • Develop and maintain in coordination with the Technology department a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to ensure the facilities and all resources are protected from any type of cyber attack.
  • Prepare payroll, maintain records and compile reports for management on a periodic basis.
  • Work extended and or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned to support company and/or facility goals.
  • Schedule event parking staff
  • Maintain accurate payroll information for event parking staff
  • Hire, train, and supervise parking staff to ensure the efficient operation of the parking department
  • Take appropriate disciplinary actions when parking staff have not met position requirements
  • Direct and supervise non-parking employees assisting with parking services during events
  • Provide customer service upon request, including answering general questions about parking fees and the facility, giving directions, and supplying maps for alternate parking options
  • Perform event setup functions including placement of traffic cones and signs, creation of parking data sheets, and accurately inputting event information into Square.
  • Determine how many credit card sales can be accepted for each event based on presale numbers and available spaces
  • Provide basic IT for parking equipment
  • Lead traffic control for the venue during events, focusing on the higher congestion times at the beginning and end of events
  • Perform maintenance on gate arms and garage equipment when needed and report relevant issues to engineering
  • Ensure all parking areas are safe, clean, and orderly by conducting regular garage inspections and taking corrective action when necessary
  • Manage all equipment and inventory for the parking department, including but not limited to check-in and check-out sheets for all uniforms, vests, wands, and radios
  • Supervise all janitorial tasks necessary to maintain parking facility including cleaning stairwells, emptying trash, mopping floors, etc.
  • Facilitate snow removal duties including shoveling, salting, and snow blowing
  • Ensure the location is safe by immediately addressing any hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions
  • Issue parking validation tickets to clients within agreed upon time frame
  • Maintain running inventory of necessary supplies
  • Communicate with Parkonect to order parts and supplies, and to arrange any necessary repairs to garage equipment
  • Input new cardholder information into Parkonect and issue ID badges in a timely manner

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training security department employees.
  • Executes effective performance management program for the department and handles employee concerns in a timely manner in conjunction with Human Resources.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of six years of responsible management experience in security or law enforcement with demonstrated responsibility for security, safety, investigations and asset and infrastructure protection.
  • Background in Cybersecurity investigative ability preferred.
  • Police and/or law enforcement background preferred.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CPR certification and other emergency/life-saving techniques.
  • Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
  • Possess any appropriate licenses as required by State.

Skills and Abilities

  • Solid knowledge of the problems, issues, philosophies, principles, tactics, and procedures related to the management of security and safety services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of principles and techniques of planning, implementing and supervising a facility security force.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Required to speak and understand basic English well enough to converse with customers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required

 

Computer Skills

  • Operate a personal computer using Windows, Office and other standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand or sit for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed for events.
  • Meet the physical demands of this job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), lifting, carrying, moving, climbing and moderate to loud noises.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires minimal stooping and lifting, but substantial walking.
