Position Summary

Payroll & Accounting Coordinator works under the supervision of the Accounting Manager to process and record payroll transactions, maintain financial records and general ledgers; and perform general bookkeeping for the Finance Department.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $23.00-$25.00.

The XL Center is Connecticut’s premier destination for sports & entertainment.
The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the six-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses.

 

The XL Center is also home to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.

 

The XL Center entertains millions of visitors annually with a variety of concerts, family shows, ice-skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows throughout the season. The venue has played host to an extraordinary roster of world-renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and many others.

 

The XL Center will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the State of Connecticut for years to come.

Responsibilities

  • Verify, review and process payroll weekly to ensure all employees are paid properly
  • Work in conjunction with HR Manager to ensure new hires are added to payroll correctly
  • Post journal entries to record payroll impacts on a weekly basis
  • Reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Maintain reporting for union dues, benefits, and vacation payments
  • Record monthly invoices received for 401K funding, garnishments, corporate payroll, and benefits
  • Assist the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end
    operations of the Finance Department

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting required
  • Experience with payroll processing strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Windows environment with strong Excel skills; knowledge of accounting software
    recommended, but not necessary (NetSuite preferred)
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and in teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language required
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize quickly with attention to detail
  • Applicants must be proactive self-starters able to work autonomously
  • Must be accurate and efficient with ability to meet deadlines
