Position Summary

Ice Technician who is motivated and skilled. This position is responsible for maintaining high-quality ice conditions, performing event conversions, and ensuring the rink and equipment are safe and operational. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with ice resurfacing machines and a strong work ethic.

 

This role pays an annual salary of $60,000-$65,000.

About the Venue

The Macon Centreplex is comprised of the Macon Coliseum and Macon City Auditorium. The Macon Coliseum is home to tenant hockey team, the Macon Mayhem and sits 9,000 patrons. Family shows, concerts, trade shows, GHSA, among others, are frequent entertainment in the venue. The Macon City Auditorium first opened in 1925 and has hosted iconic greats like Otis Redding, The Allman Brothers, and Little Richard. The venue hosts concerts, weddings, private galas, comedy shows, among other events, in its 2,500 seat space. The 10,000 capacity Amphitheater opened in Spring of 2024 with concerts, comedy shows, special events, and graduations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general labor and support tasks as assigned.
  • Install and maintain ice, including:Freezing the ice floor, painting base colors, lines, and logos and building up and leveling the ice sheet.
  • Operate Zamboni or Olympia resurfacer during games, practices, and public sessions.
  • Change resurfacer blades as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain ice quality by removing debris, checking depth, and performing scrapes.
  • Install and remove ice dams, dashers, and glass as needed.
  • Re-string hockey nets and set up/take down nets during events.
  • Work with Facilities to inspect and repair equipment, including: Zamboni, dasher boards, glass, safety netting and Jet Ice systems, edgers, and goal frames.
  • Assist with ice installation/removal and event conversions.
  • Maintain compliance with building safety and operational policies.
  • Perform other duties as required to support events and operations.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Certified Ice Technician (U.S. Ice Rink Association).
  • Required: Experience operating Zamboni or Olympia resurfacers.
  • Comfortable working in extreme temperatures (cold/hot).
  • Physically capable of: Standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders and lifting 50 lbs or more consistently.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or with a team.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
