Position Summary

The Facility Security reports to the Security Manager. In this role, you will assist the Security Manager. This position operates under direct supervision and mentorship of the Security Manager.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $19.00-$21.00.

About the Venue

The St. Charles Convention Center is the finest full-service convention center in the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area.  Containing over 154,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including 83,000 square feet of exhibit space, the SCCC is the perfect place for events up to 3,000 attendees. Located mere minutes away from St. Louis Lambert International Airport, the St. Charles Convention Center is surrounded by multiple hotels, Historic Main Street, and the Streets of St. Charles, giving versatility to your commute and experience at St. Charles Convention Center.

Responsibilities

  • Immediate point of contact when clients arrive BOH
  • Prepare dock, ramps, BOH spaces being used prior to move-ins, manage traffic in those areas
  • Keep track of/check-out of UVCC equipment like carts, brooms, vacuums
  • Understanding of client/vendor/exhibitor locations to be able to provide directions
  • Fast communication with other teams that aren’t immediately present if client/vendors have needs (AV, set changes, technical issues, equipment requests)
  • Can provide/start paperwork
  • Manage vehicle & truck traffic in lot, ramps, roundabouts, give directions. Keep traffic moving (load/unload procedures w/ vehicles), prevent guests from being towed/ticketed
  • Manually attend parking, barricade/reserve parking when needed
  • Manage checkouts for access key cards for access to elevators, event rooms, entrances/exits
  • Operate service elevators to facilitate move-ins. Can lock out elevators when needed
  • Secure UVCC prior to arrivals- clear POIs and keep clear during times building is mostly empty
  • High visibility during any scheduled times. Keep POIs off premises
  • De-escalation & intervention training- high frequency of mental illness/drug use downtown
  • Direct traffic in the building as guests arrive, move between events
  • Lost & Found Services- coordinate with registration @1m admin when guests have needs
  • Crowd control- safe flow to/from specific/restricted entries with high #s of guests
  • Theft prevention- move-in/outs, for any area with a point of sale (bookstores/vendor fairs, etc.), monitored equipment storage
  • Can review cameras when theft suspected
  • Monitor and maintain cameras to ensure reliable ongoing feed
  • Coordinate quickly with local PD in case of emergencies
  • Emergency response duties relate to guests, intercom in closet, exiting guests, stairwells
  • Door ID security: only authorized/ID guests can enter during events
  • Noise reduction BOH/FOH during events where silence should be maintained
  • Training for alcohol @ events- restrict access, stop outside alcohol, over-indulgence, respond to and prevent behaviors related to alcohol from occurring
  • Enforce smoking laws near building
  • VIP/Escort Security services available
  • Guest safety in UVCC/facilities (elevators, balconies, escalators, air walls etc.)
  • Maintain fire code- in event rooms, BOH
  • Documentation throughout the entire time we're present
  • Package storage security- before/during/after events
  • Work with exhibitors to follow shipping/receiving and coordinate

Qualifications

  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to climb stairs, walk and stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs unaided
  • Ability to prioritize tasks & work in a fast paced environment
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow written instruction
  • Ability to manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work well unsupervised
  • Ability to bend, reach, pull, twist, and lift a variety of objects
