Position Summary

The Account Manager at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, under the Supervision of the Catering Sales Director, will be responsible for serving clients by selling catering products and fulfilling their needs for retail events and other catering functions.

 

The Account Manager will handle sales and customer service issues including providing outstanding guest service; researching, fielding invoice questions; and providing knowledgeable and appropriate suggestions regarding menu selections. The Account Manager maintains a consistently positive and professional relationship with internal and external clients. They will facilitate the flow of information internally, as well as communicate with clients and vendors on assigned events. Must be available to assist with general catering operations as needed.  

 

The Account Manager must be able to work a variable shift, including evenings and weekends, depending upon event requirements, to best serve our guests.

 

This role will pay an annual salary of $50,000-$55,000.

About the Venue

The Palm Beach County Convention Center is a multi-purpose facility in West Palm Beach, Florida, managed by the Oak View Group. The Center features a 100,000 square-foot exhibit hall, a 22,000 square-foot ballroom and 21,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, as well as connecting to the 400-room Hilton West Palm Beach.

Responsibilities

  • Services existing accounts and establishes new accounts.
  • Provide exceptional client interactions and guest service, addressing inquiries, concerns, and event details.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients after the contract is signed, managing any adjustments to inventory, addressing concerns, and responding to inquiries promptly.
  • Responsible for creating Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for the venue’s retail operations and other catering functions.
  • Responsible for managing the distribution and communication of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to all relevant teams and clients.
  • Responsible for conducting site visits and offering tours of available event spaces to prospective clients, actively promoting the venue and its menu items/packages.
  • Serve as the Catering Sales Departments primary point of contact and customer service for the partnered Small Business Enterprise (SBE) vendors.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Catering Sales Department regarding exhibitor booth orders.
  • Collaborate with the culinary, front-of-house, and event management teams to coordinate menu planning, event logistics, food service timing, and all other event requirements are met.
  • Keep accurate records of all Catering sales activities to track progress and outcomes.
  • Maintain a comprehensive client database for follow-up sales, including in-person visits, phone calls, emails, and mail communications.
  • Coordinate billing and invoicing for catering orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Ensure payments for catering events are collected in full, prior to event execution.
  • Responsible for creating clear and visually appealing guest facing product labels for all retail and catering items for all events.
  • Ensuring labels include essential information such as product names, ingredients, and key dietary considerations (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free).

Qualifications

  • 3+ years previous sales experience, preferably in related hospitality industry or convention setting but not required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office programs with an emphasis on creating word documents, Excel spreadsheets, etc).
  • Ability to adhere to high standard of business etiquette, professional verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to consistently represent the Company in a professional, positive and knowledgeable manner.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standard of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce detail-oriented, accurate work.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D).
  • Proven ability to make solid, appropriate, and independent decisions.
