Position Summary

The Senior Sales Manager is responsible for all association, corporate, and convention center sales for the venue. This position acts in a support role for the sale of other market segmentation, including but not limited to, banquets, meetings, and special events at the facility. Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Senior Sales Manager will manage and coordinate activities of the sales department to reach budget goals and generate revenue for the facility. 

 

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 per year.

 

For FT roles: Benefits: Health, Dental and Vision insurance, Pension matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).

 

This position will remain open until April 11, 2025.

About the Venue

The Cox Business Convention Center (CBCC) is located in the Arena District in downtown Tulsa, CBCC is a modern and award-winning venue providing over 275,000 SF of flexible event space.  Owned by the City of Tulsa for over 50 years, the CBCC has been host to every kind of event imaginable! 

Responsibilities

  • Support Director of Sales to oversee the duties of sales managers and perform like duties when required
  • Works with Director of Sales and other Sales Managers to establish sales goals as needed
  • Responsible for the prospecting, selling, cultivating and maintaining of association, corporate partnerships, and convention sales
  • Coordinate all aspects of sales solicitation process including account lists and tracking
  • Responsible for creation and implementation of ideas and opportunities that drive revenue
  • Manage internal and external sales process, reporting to Director of Sales and facility GM
  • Responsible for achieving established sales goals and budgets
  • Help in creation and development of sales presentation materials
  • Completing and updating reporting and tracking systems
  • Mentor staff in the department to assist in their development
  • Other duties as appropriate for a senior sales manager

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of convention industry and network of prospects and/or clients.
  • Association experience and membership preferred, not required.
  • Demonstrate exceptional skills in sales, customer relations, and problem solving.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Work independently, exercising good judgment and initiative.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others while working.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Must be comfortable making sales calls, working a tradeshow booth and presenting to prospects and groups.
  • High aptitude for figures and advanced writing skills.
  • Required to speak and understand basic English well enough to converse with customers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers, customers, vendors and visitors to the facility.
  • Must be a team player
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and select holidays, in addition to traditional business hours, as required
  • Creative ideas for new promotions, goals, and other tasks
  • Knowledgeable in all administrative procedures established by the convention center/arena
  • Skill in public relations, oral and written communications, public speaking, and program planning
  • Ability to identify potential problems and make plans for corrective action
  • Ability to analyze data and numbers that affect duties and goals
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Some travel as needed.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

 

 

 

Minimum Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in sales, business administration, or hospitality management; additional years of experience may be substituted for formal education
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of increasingly responsible experience in sales, preferably with a sports facility, convention center, performing arts facility or other multi-purpose public assembly facility in sales management

Computer Skills

 

  • Operate a personal computer using Windows, Office and other standard office equipment.
  • Must have strong computer working skills in MS Office.
