Position Summary

The Engineering Manager will supervise, direct, plan, schedule, and monitor all building maintenance programs and monitor special projects related to facility systems (i.e., mechanical, electrical, and plumbing – “M.E.P.”), structural repairs/changes, grounds repairs/changes.  

 

This role will pay a salary of $60,000 to $75,000.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage full-time and part-time engineering and maintenance staff including; managing performance, ensuring quality of work, motivating, training and developing staff, and creating cohesion for a harmonious work and team environment.  
  • Properly schedule full-time and part-time staff to cover facility operating hours in an efficient and effective manner.  
  • Assign specific work tasks and monitor progress as to timeliness and quality of results. 
  • Develop training programs that ensure that all staff members are proficient in operating and maintaining all related building M.E.P. systems. 
  • Manage, operate, monitor, repair and maintain the facility’s audio-visual, environmental controls, emergency power, electrical, HVAC and lighting systems as required for the safe and efficient operation of the facility. 
  • Attend weekly staff meetings. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other Moody Center departments.   
  • Develop, implement, document, and maintain effective facility maintenance policies, procedures, and programs. To include P.M. software program tracking – HVAC systems and equipment, electrical systems and equipment, refrigeration systems and equipment, kitchen systems and equipment, structural systems, facility hardware systems and equipment, and facility material handling and specialty equipment. 
  • Oversee and provide cause for proper control and care of M.E.P. inventories of supplies, spare parts, shop tools and equipment. Oversee and provide cause for proper maintenance shop(s) conditions to be maintained to safe working conditions, safe working procedures, and in a clean and orderly work environment.  
  • Oversee related contracted maintenance agreements. Develop bid specifications, renew agreements, and manage all other related items to ensure that acceptable and quality performance levels are achieved.  
  • Rotate with other facility personnel to function as Manager on Duty (MOD), who maintains total responsibility and authority over all clients, staff personnel, patrons, security, and safety in assigned buildings. Responsibilities include but not limited to making sure contractual agreements are met and clients’ event requirements and changes have been made in a timely fashion.  On-duty staff/subcontractors ultimately report to the MOD through any Managers or Supervisors who are present during the event. 
  • Frequent bending, lifting 50+ pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building.  

Qualifications

The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.   • High School diploma or GED and two (2) year degree or certificate of completion in any or all the fields of HVAC., electrical, or refrigeration from an advanced technical support school, institution, or related association 
  • 3-5 years related experience in the public assembly industry (stadiums, arenas, and/or or convention centers) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility. 
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures to repair and maintain all mechanical, electrical and event-related equipment. 
  • Understand and guarantee that all laws, building codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management and emergency procedures are followed – this includes local and state. 
  • Possess skills and experience in supervising/training personnel. 
  • Experience with budget preparation and purchasing 
  • Possess any licenses, certificates or training required by local, state, or national authorities for the operations of the equipment found in the facility. 
  • Have basic understanding and working knowledge of commercial refrigeration. 
  • Have basic understanding and working knowledge of chemicals and water treatment. 
  • Respond to routine, precautionary and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systemsFollow and adhere to all safety precautions and procedures. 
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and other related materials. 
  • Meet the physical demands of this job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), lifting, carrying, moving, climbing, working from various heights, and moderate to loud noises. 
  • Experience with operating large-scale events in a stadium or concert setting of a similar size (15,000+ seats) is highly desirable. 

 

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
