Position Summary

The Painter performs mixing, matching and applying paint to various surfaces, completing touchups and providing other operational tasks as directed and needed.

 

This role will pay a hourly of $14 to $16.00.

The Bank of Oklahoma Center, also known as the BOK Center, is located downtown and serves as the premier sports and entertainment venue of the greater Tulsa region. Offering a19,199-seat multi-purpose arena and 565,000 total square footage designed to accommodate concerts, family shows and other special events and has been named on multiple occasions one of the country's best venues. 

 

The Cox Business Convention Center (CBCC), located in the Arena District in downtown Tulsa, is a modern and award-winning venue providing over 275,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.  Owned by the City of Tulsa for over 50 years, the CBCC has been host to every kind of event imaginable and proudly serves the citizens of Tulsa and guests from around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Apply paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
  • Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes.
  • Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
  • Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
  • Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
  • Erect scaffolding, movable and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas; moves furniture and equipment as necessary.
  • Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
  • Apply several coats according to paint directions.
  • Apply touchups or second coats.
  • Remove paint splatters when finished.
  • Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns.
  • Facilitate in other areas of facility operations on an as needed basis.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays and hours as needed.
  • Maintain a professional work ethic.
  • Provide the highest customer service excellence.
  • Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees (including other departments).
  • Maintain safe working conditions.
  • Clean work site.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Must be able to use a paint brush, paint roller and masking machine.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of sheetrock repair.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to facility maintenance and proper use and care of the equipment.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative
  • Good written and verbal skills.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Model all safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Minimum of six (6) months related experience preferred.

  •     Work on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time (8 hours+)
  • Position is routinely required to work outdoors and is exposed to the elements (heat, rain, etc.)
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
