Position Summary

In addition to managing a wide variety of events at the complex, this position also serves as a multi-faceted event manager for producing all levels and types of events including in-house, amphitheater, and swim meets. Prepares event outlines and scaled drawings of event areas. Coordinates equipment and personnel service distribution and other functions and duties as required by the event. Serves as lead on-site contact with event promoter from planning the event, move in of event to the facility, the actual event and move out of the event. As Manager of the event, supervises facility operations including outside contractors and facility employees. Prepares and compiles and communicates lessee event expense information for use by the business department in financial settlement of the event.

 

This role will pay between $55,000 to $70,000 annually.

About the Venue

The Greensboro Complex is a versatile multi-building facility that serves the community of Greensboro and its surrounding areas.  It hosts a wide array of events, such as athletic competitions, cultural arts showcases, concerts, theater performances, educational activities, fairs, exhibits, as well as public and private gatherings, including conventions, convocations, trade shows, and consumer shows. It plays a crucial role as a hub of community activities and significantly contributes to the regional economy.  The Complex is made up of nine venues, the largest being the renowned 22,000-seat First Horizon Coliseum, which has a storied history of hosting prestigious ACC and NCAA basketball championships, and a concert history featuring legendary artists like Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, and Elvis Presley, as well as today’s biggest artists like Drake, Bad Bunny, and Taylor Swift.  The Complex also includes the 167,000-square foot Special Events Center, encompassing three exhibition halls, a 4,500-seat mini-arena, and eight meeting rooms. Additionally, there's White Oak Amphitheatre, Piedmont Hall, the Novant Health Fieldhouse, Greensboro Aquatic Center, The Terrace, ACC Hall of Champions, and the 300-seat Odeon Theatre.  As one of the most actively booked facilities in the country, the Greensboro Complex annually hosts over 1,100 events. Its extraordinary flexibility and reputation have earned it worldwide acclaim among promoters, producers, event planners, and patrons alike.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary on-site contact with every promoter for events ranging in gross revenue to potentiallyin excess of $1M. Position is primary on-site contact for planning of the event, move in of the event intothe facility, the actual event, and move out of the event; requiring that this manager frequently adaptall internal and external resources to often changing scenarios. Supervises facility operations includingoutside contractors and facility employees during the event. Determines staffing requirements and reactsto changes brought on by security concerns, fluctuations in attendance, weather and cancellations/latearrivals. This position assumes a high level of financial/budgetary responsibility and is required to actquickly and make sound financial and practical/operational decisions regarding changes throughout theplanning process and on the date of the event.
  • Serves as facility representative for all events. Develops detailed operational and financial plans anddiagrams for the Published Event Document and distributes same to facility personnel forimplementation of a contractual obligations and conditions prior to the event. Oversees division staffingthroughout the event and coordinates with resources to meet the fluctuating needs of Tenants,Performers and Promoters. Coordinates with in-house and 3rd party security and food vendors to assureoptimal patron satisfaction. Coordinates event preparation with event prep supervisors, crew and management.
  • Assists tenants in arranging for supportive services and represents facility management in resolvingproblems encountered by tenants and technical staff.
  • Monitors assigned event requirements as interfaced with other events and activities scheduledthroughout the Complex. Exhibits working knowledge of all event related and departmental proceduresin order to facilitate proper coordination of activities.
  • Prepare and correlate lessee expense information in order to support Finance department in financial pre-settlement and final settlement activity.
  • Employees are expected to perform all duties listed in their position descriptions, as well as other related duties as assigned. All employees will exercise resource stewardship and report known or expected irregularities to the immediate supervisor to ensure compliance with policies/procedures.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of functionality of Coliseum venues. Knowledge of event management procedures. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with divisions within the facility, contracted vendors/services and clientele including high profile touring promotion agencies. Ability to maintain an excellent public image for the facility. Maintains knowledge of current concert tours, conventions and trade shows including concert production trends.

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Experience: 4 to 6 years of related experience.
