Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for the daily preparation, cooking and plating of all food orders in an efficient, safe, and attractive manner.

 

This role will pay an hourly rate between $12 to $15.

About the Venue

PPL Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose arena in downtown Allentown, PA and home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The arena seats more than 10,000 for concerts and more than 8,500 for Lehigh Valley Phantoms professional hockey games, making it the region’s largest events venue.

 

The amenities-packed PPL Center hosts more than 150 events each year, offering something for everyone, including the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the AHL affiliate of the NHL Philadelphia Flyers, live concerts, family shows, trade shows, youth sports, high school and collegiate events, conferences, graduations, and so many more.

 

Chickie’s & Pete’s is a full-service bar and restaurant located within PPL Center, serving lunch Tuesday through Friday and open for events.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive, respectful attitude at all times
  • Perform food preparation duties when needed
  • Check food for quality and presentation before serving
  • Ensure food is handled in a sanitary manner
  • Set up stations according to restaurant guidelines
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by Chickie’s & Pete’s. All food items must be prepared according to the menu build
  • Restock all items as needed throughout shift
  • Clean/maintain station by practicing good safety, sanitation, and organizational skills
  • Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas
  • Ensure proper temperatures are maintained on cooking and refrigeration equipment
  • Communicated effectively with the Expeditor
  • Awareness of food allergies and possible areas of cross-contamination
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings
  • Additional tasks as assigned by management
  • Work together as a team
  • Perform physical activities in a variety of environmental conditions that require moderate strength including cleaning, climbing, lifting, walking, balancing, and handling of materials. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be 18 or over
  • One to two years of experience as a line cook, fast-paced restaurant cook, or prep cook preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a friendly, positive attitude with co-workers, management staff, volunteers and guests
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, some holidays, and long hours
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Must perform physical activities in a variety of environmental conditions that require moderate strength including cleaning, climbing, lifting, walking, balancing and handling of materials. Must be able to stand for long periods of time
