Position Summary

Reporting to the Restaurants and Concessions Manager, the Restaruant Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the overall “back of house” operations of the Food and Beverage locations. Overall responsibilities include the thorough cleaning of equipment and facilities to ensure proper sanitation standards are adhered to.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $23.47-$25.47

 

For FT roles: Benefits: Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 12 holidays)

 

This position will remain open until Dec 31, 2024.

McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Washes pots, pans and traps; maintains neat appearance of working areas and cleaning equipment storage areas.
  • Scrapes food off of, rinse, and hand wash dishes or use a dishwasher.
  • Sweeps and mops kitchen floors, restaurant locations including Pods, Branded Locations, etc.
  • Empty the garbage from all the restaurant locations in the Back of House
  • Cleans the floor mats and the floor in the restaurant locations at the end of the night as requested.
  • Cleans garbage cans and waste receptacles
  • Clean and sanitize entire restaurant areas including storage areas, hallways and elevators.
  • Clean and sanitize restaurant coolers and discard outdated items.
  • Clean and sanitize restaurant restrooms and locker rooms as directed.
  • Adheres to cleaning schedules.
  • Store all equipment in proper storage areas.
  • Fill out dish machine logs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor

                        

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must have sufficient math ability to accurately add, subtract, divide, multiply and perform other basic business math calculations and pass basic math skills test.
  • Must speak, be able to read and understand English well enough to converse with customers, supervisors and employees.
  • Understand written and oral direction and communicate effectively with others.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess good organizational skills
  • Must have ability to follow directions and effectively perform the work
  • Ability to work closely with others.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment; sense of urgency.
  • Must have a pleasant personality and adhere to Uniform Standards policy.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work various shifts and hours to include holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to take tasks that are not clearly defined and appropriately define problem, propose and implement solutions.

 

Computer Skills                                          

This position does not require computer skills.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid Food Handler Certification is required.
