Position Summary

The Concessions Coordinator (CC) is responsible for supporting the Concessions Manager(s) with organization, communication, and management of the Concessions Department. Responsibilities include inventory controls, product ordering, training new employees, compliance with alcohol service polices, cleaning, safety, guest service, employee/volunteer training and supervision, warehouse oversight, troubleshooting, closing duties, event planning support, food preparation and production, and any other tasks assigned by the Concession Manager(s).

The CC must be able to provide a high level of event oversight, technical proficiency and operational/personnel support to ensure the smooth operation of the Concessions Department. The CC will act as the manager on duty (MOD) in the absence of a Concessions Manager with regard to day-to-day operations. The CC will actively and independently oversee all aspects of employee relations as required to ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant and cooperative work environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a varied, event-driven schedule including consistent evenings and weekends.

 

This role pays an hourly wage of $20 to $25.

Responsibilities

  • The CC provides a high level of oversight and operational expertise resulting in smooth, efficient, and profitable execution of events at Iowa Events Center.
  • Ensure proper set-up and operations of all Concessions locations prior to doors. Responsibilities may include: verifying opening inventory; assigning tasks/locations to concession workers; communicate event specific promotions, ensuring sanitation standards are met; verifying that each location is fully operational meeting company standards; ascertaining levels of food production has been met based upon projected guest attendant; assuring that SM and NPO has followed proper procedures for distribution and handling of cashProvide consistent, daily leadership, direction and oversight to hourly employees including, but not limited to, Concession Supervisors, Stand Managers (SM), Cashiers, Cooks, Prep Cooks, Warehouse employees, temporary employees,non-profit organizations (NPO), and subcontractors.
  • Responsibilities include employee check-in, equipment inspection, POS monitoring and troubleshooting, guest complaint resolution, employee / NPO training, food production, clean-up, managing employee schedules, and other duties as assigned by the CM or General Manager.
  • Ensure all employees are following proper procedures regarding handling of cash; and are maintaining a complaint work environment in accordance with company standards and local, state, federal laws, including but not limited to, food & safety / compliance, building & guest safety, emergency situations, and employee relations.
  • Ensure that all local, state, federal laws, Spectra and IEC policies, procedures and practices are adhered to, including compliance with alcohol distribution / service and food handling / sanitation guidelines, employee relations / respect in the workplace, general safety policies and procedures. Report any alcohol service or other compliance issues to General Manager immediately.
  • Manage and oversee all concessions operations and locations before, during and after the event. Consistently will be responsible for closing duties / procedures including post-event reconciliation and reporting
  • Train new & current employees regarding the property, expectations, procedure & best practices
  • Ability to effectively oversee a large volume of inventory, order product, and managing a high volume of sales.
  • Responsible for managing, developing and mentoring a staff of part time concessions employees, including coaching, counsel, direct, and train. Promote a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative workplace environment by working side-by-side with staff; reinforce procedures and practices through repetition; lead by example and provide on-going constructive feedback. The CC will deliver employee discipline as directed. 
  • Willingness to cover / back-up any position to ensure location is fully operational and company standards pertaining to speed of service and guest satisfaction are met;
  • Complete post-event evaluations, data compilation, tracking of monetary and product shortages, generating reports; serves as a resource for POS applications and training.
  • Address and report all safety concerns, potential hazards, accidents or incidents to management immediately.
  • Ensure event staff and volunteers are aware of work place expectations; provide on-going assistance, training and mentoring to event staff and volunteers; promote a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative workplace environment by working side-by-side with staff and volunteers; reinforce procedures and practices through repetition; lead by example and provide on-going constructive feedback.
  • Ability to obtain working knowledge of all existing concession locations: geographical locations, equipment, evacuation procedures, adjacent employee and guest areas and facility access.
