Position Summary

The Hospitality Division of Oak View Group presents an exciting opportunity to be in the room where it happens. Be mentored by senior Culiary, Concessions/Beverage and Catering leadership, and see how their teams operate. This is a part-time position, with complete college schedule flexibility. Reporting to the Hospitality Office Manager, learn F&B Finance 101 and work alongside the Assistant General Manager. Attend meetings with the department management, take minutes and witness the operation from behind the curtain.

 

This role pays an hourly wage of $17.00.

About the Venue

The Ford Idaho Center features a variety of flexible spaces to host events of all types and sizes. The Ford Idaho Center is a unique combination of three venues under one complex: Ford Idaho Center Arena, Ford Idaho Amphitheater, and Ford Idaho Sports Center. The complex is flexible to meet the needs of events of all types and sizes. It is well-suited for conventions, meetings, tradeshows, sporting, social and entertainment events.

 

The Nampa Civic Center is a large conference & meeting center with the ability to host banquets, weddings, conferences, conventions, tradeshows, and other events. Second, a 640 seat theater is attached to the conference center that frequently hosts concerts, theatrical performances, seminars and screnings.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the Hospitality Office Manager, the Hospitality Management Intern (HMI) will learn about F&B AP/AR management, as well as line staff payroll and Sub-contractor/NPO coordiantion.
  • The HMI will work with the Hospitality Director, Concessions & Beverage Director and Executive Chef, and learn from their management teams. This includes receiving instruction in the planning, scheduling, and supervising of effective, safe, and profitable food and beverage operations.
  • Assist the Directors' departments and their day-to-day operations for concessions, premium service, catering, bar and private events. This includes learning the POS system, sending/receiving orders, and assisting with inventory controls and stand stocking.
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in, as well as prior experience in, the planning and scheduling of employees. Additionally, experience with inventory management and familiarity with the state food safety and state liquor laws pertaining to the storage, handling, and preparation and the dispensing of food and beverages.
  • The ideal candidate will also have a passion for cuisine, guest service and hospitality as a whole, and demonstarte it through their attitude and ethic at all times.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be actively studying Hospitality Management, Business (or similar) with the intention to pursue a career in F&B Service or any other facet of the Hospitality industry.
  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivated, and be comfortable working in an extremely busy environment.
  • Have experience in retail, catering, concessions, and/or alcohol service to the public in a hospitality setting is highly preferred.
  • The individual must be outgoing, energetic, motivated & professional.
  • Team player with excellent customer service and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to solve time-sensitive issues and possesses good organizational skills.
  • Proactive in making suggestions, creating new ideas & trouble shooting while paying close attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience with point of sales systems highly preferred.
  • SERV Safe Certification a plus. TIPS Certification a plus.
