Position Summary

The Host greets and facilitates guest experience by properly welcoming all guests, organizing server sections, accompanying guests to their tables and maintaining an efficient guest flow. Guest’s first and last point of contact with a Chickie’s & Pete’s Team Member and there for the service they provide is critical to starting and ending the guest’s experience in a positive manner.

 

This role pays between 9-12 per hour and is tip eligible.

About the Venue

PPL Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose arena in downtown Allentown, PA and home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The arena seats more than 10,000 for concerts and more than 8,500 for Lehigh Valley Phantoms professional hockey games, making it the region’s largest events venue.

 

The amenities-packed PPL Center hosts more than 150 events each year, offering something for everyone, including the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the AHL affiliate of the NHL Philadelphia Flyers, live concerts, family shows, trade shows, youth sports, high school and collegiate events, conferences, graduations, and so many more.

 

Chickie’s & Pete’s is a full-service bar and restaurant located within PPL Center, serving lunch Tuesday through Friday and open for events.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the foyer and host area is clean and neat at all times
  • Smile and maintain a positive attitude at all times
  • Greet guests in a warm, friendly and professional manner
  • When possible, seek out guests personally when their table is ready rather than making an announcement
  • Accompany guests to their tables and let them know who their server will be
  • Inform guests about new menu items/specials, entertainment and area events
  • Communicate with staff to ensure seating of guests occurs as per the organized seating chart in an order that does not overload the kitchen or a particular server
  • Answer the phone in a friendly and professional manner. Always remember the person on the other end is a potential guest
  • Respond appropriately to guest complaints; bring any issues to management’s attention
  • Accompany guests who are there for a party to the appropriate party area
  • Carefully pack all to-go orders
  • Perform cashier functions for take-out orders and merchandise
  • Stock all retail items and take inventory as needed
  • Perform marketing and other promotional services as needed
  • Clean, clear and set tables as needed
  • Complete beginning, change, and end of shift side duties
  • Keep restrooms clean and stocked at all times
  • Thank all guests for coming as they leave the restaurant

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be 16 or over
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a friendly, positive attitude with co-workers, management staff, volunteers and guests
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, some holidays, and long hours
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous cash handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn to operate a cash register and corresponding system accurately.
  • Must perform physical activities in a variety of environmental conditions that require moderate strength including cleaning, climbing, lifting, walking, balancing and handling of materials. Must be able to stand for long periods of time
