Position Summary

Production Specialist position at the Greensboro Aquatic Center oversees the technical requirements of conducting Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, and Synchronized Swimming competitions of various levels, from local summer events to televised National and International Events. 

 

This role will pay a hourly rate of $24.00 to $27

About the Venue

 

Since its grand opening in 2011, the Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) has emerged as one of the top aquatic facilities in the nation. A state-of-the-art facility featuring cutting edge concepts in aquatic design, the GAC is located on the campus of the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, the premier sports and entertainment facility in the Southeast. Built at a cost of nearly $19 million, the GAC brings together all major aquatic sports – competitive swimming and diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and other unique sports - all in one venue. The GAC’s versatility offers Greensboro the opportunity to host high school and collegiate events, USA Swimming meets, U.S. Masters Swimming and U.S. Water Polo events as well as myriad local, regional, national and international competitions. The GAC’s impressive national swim meet resume includes numerous NCAA, ACC, YMCA and USA Diving competitions. According to the Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau, the estimated economic impact of GAC events exceeds $224 million.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setting up and using electronic timing and judging equipment, cables, scoreboard, computers, software as well as internet streaming broadcast cameras, hardware, software to run events.
  • Weekly and monthly maintenance and repair of all equipment, installing/maintaining all above and below ground wiring pertaining to event equipment.
  • Assisting in facility setup for events (signage, tenting, spectator areas, bulkhead movement, etc.).
  • Networking computer equipment for events, tending to lane lines, backstroke flags, and various deck and event related duties.
  • Integrating the Host Event digital files into our computers/network, software, printers, data upload systems, etc.
  • During the Events operating all timimg/judging systems, testing/trouble shooting all systems and in-water timing/judging equipment.
  • Operating outbound broadcast streaming when necessary.
  • After the Event, remove all systems and equipment to return facility to Non-Event status.
  • Assist in coordinating tasks for part-time staff during an Event.
  • Assist in training part-time staff.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Valid Driver License.
  • Associate's Degree preferred or 1-3 years of related experience.
  • General working knowledge of computers, printers, and networks.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights and holidays required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Weekend work schedules required as most Events are conducted over weekends approximately 40-45 weekends a year.
