Position Summary

The Cox Business Convention Center (CBCC), located in the Arena District in downtown Tulsa, is a modern and award-winning venue providing over 275,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.  Owned by the City of Tulsa for over 50 years, the CBCC has been host to every kind of event imaginable and proudly serves the citizens of Tulsa and guests from around the world.

 

The Bank of Oklahoma Center, also known as the BOK Center, is located in downtown Tulsa and serves as the premier sports and entertainment venue of the region. Offering 19,199-seat multi-purpose arena and 565,000 total square footage designed to accommodate concerts, family shows and other special events, the BOK Center has been named one of the country's best venues.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $25 to $30.

 

Benefits for PT roles: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching. Also, OVG provides part-time, seasonal, and internship employees with one hour of accrued paid leave per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year.

 

This position will remain open until October 31, 2024

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, repair (within reason) and maintain the facility’s environmental controls, HVAC, and plumbing systems as required for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
  • Maintain service on various items such as motors, compressors, ice machines, commercial kitchen equipment and commercial restrooms.
  • Follow the preventive maintenance program, energy management program, and standard operating procedures for all machinery and equipment.
  • Operates and maintains refrigeration and heating systems of the facility.
  • Inspects systems throughout facility to detect malfunction or breakdowns.
  • Investigates malfunctions or breakdown of systems to diagnose causes and locate the source of the problem and take appropriate action to prevent or minimize the use of services.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks such as filters and belts as required.
  • Record and log all work performed, complete work order slips and compile all required reports in a timely and complete manner.
  • Assist other Operation Department divisions to expedite event conversions as needed.
  • Read and interpret performance charts and control panels to evaluate the efficiency of each system.
  • Respond to routine, precautionary and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
  • Work with the building electrician.
  • Assist maintenance department with work orders such as maintaining walls (interior and exterior) of entire complex including all drywall repairs, sanding, and repainting as needed.
  • Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Review event documents for engineering/operational requirements.
  • Frequent bending, carrying, moving, climbing, working from various heights, lifting 15-50 pounds, sitting, exposure to moderate to loud noises, extensive walking through the building.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry technology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated for the facility, in particular the methods, techniques, and procedures to make minor repairs and maintain mechanical, plumbing and event related equipment.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and other related material.
  • Work independently, exercising judgement and initiative.
  • Work effectively under pressure and or/stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, or other light power-driven equipment.
  • Know and guarantee all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the ability to perform all essential duties and responsibilities in a satisfactory manner. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a reliable form of transportation.  Due to essential personnel status, must maintain an effective way to be reached after normal work hours. 
  • High School diploma or GED and five (8) years of full-time related experience at a facility/commercial building or the equivalent combination of education.
  • Certifications in HVAC repair and maintenance desired. Additional certifications in electrical, refrigeration, welding, plumbing, or other engineering trades a plus.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC control systems.
  • Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and Microsoft Office software and E-mail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
  • Experience in stadiums, arenas, and/or convention centers is preferred.
