Position Summary

As the department lead, this Full-time position maintains the general maintenance of the facility, as well as the preparation and tearing down of events.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $31.95.

About the Venue

As a leading entertainment venue, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania, and home to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.

Responsibilities

  • Leads department responsible for repairs and maintains facility, including painting and general labor
  • Designate work assignments for the Utility staff including full and part time members
  • Assist with cost controls and scheduling
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for all Utility staff
  • Ensure all job assignments are completed on time and meets company standards
  • Handles preparations for all events, including installation and removal of dasher board system for hockey, staging, and chairs for concerts and family shows and basketball flooring.
  • Planning and execution of event conversions
  • Operation of motorized vehicles including, but not limited to forklift, snow plow equipment, aerial lifts, ice resurfacer, and company vehicles.
  • Snow removal and general maintenance of areas on the outside of the facility, which involves driving plow truck and forklift, as needed.
  • Implements corrective actions and solutions.
  • Follows procedures for use of Work Order and Maintenance Manager Systems.
  • Adhere to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                               

Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the housekeepers on shift.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with OVG’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work assignments in conjunction with Management. Works with Management in regards to hiring, interviewing, appraising performance and disciplining employees; as well as addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

5+ years of previous experience in sports and/or entertainment facilities

2+years of experience in a supervisory role

                   

Skills and Abilities                                                      

  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, CAD drawings, and written directions
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends and some holidays is required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Will be required to join the union, upon invitation, following 90-day probationary period
