Overview

Under the direction of the Miami Beach Convention Center’s (MBCC) Transportation Manager, the Transportation Agent is responsible for delivering excellence in customer service, while maximizing efficiencies and ensuring safety on all aspects of vehicular and pedestrian transportation. Main responsibilities include but are not limited to; curbside management surrounding the venue and adjoining roadways, parking, loading dock operations, logistics, operations of the MBCC and its City Center Campus and prioritizes the movement of vehicular traffic (including private vehicles, taxicabs, shuttle buses, trucks, Livery Service, rideshare and Emergency Vehicles) entering and exiting the venue; This also includes working closely with internal MBCC & City Center Campus Departments, contract partners, vendors and the City of Miami Beach (CMB).

 

Please note the above-mentioned also includes aspects of the MBCC City Center Campus’ Pride Park, Collins Canal Park, Rum Room and Venue

 

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $18.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, regulate and prioritize the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic around the venue.
  • Vehicles include private vehicles, taxicabs, shuttle buses, trucks rideshare, and emergency vehicles.
  • Manage and monitor traffic flow on Convention Center Drive/Washington Street and adjoining streets
  • Assist in all pedestrian movement on Convention Center Drive from move-in, event days, to move-out for the MBCC and its City Center Campus.
  • Assist with move-in and move-out operations, truck marshaling, off-site parking/ truck marshalling, valet operations, hotel and onsite shuttle operations, taxi/rideshare curbside management, and variable message sign deployment.
  • Communicates to all MBCC departments and employees regarding parking and transportation related matters. 
  • Assists with the venues loading dock operations.
  • Monitor vehicles and pedestrians on routes throughout events.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Assists the Public Safety Department to ensure a safe and secure environment during events
  • Notifies security dispatcher of suspicious persons or activities.
  • Ensures that the venue rules and safety standards are followed.
  • Responds to emergency situations according to MBCC procedures, emergency evacuation plans, and acts as a member of the emergency response team, as directed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 year’s relevant work experience in transportation/shipping/ receiving/ logistics/ operations strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work well with team members and navigate stressful situations.
  • Good conflict resolution skills.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • The ability to multi-task and is committed to the MBCC’s mission of delivering superior customer service.
  • The work schedule for this position fluctuates based upon the needs of a particular event or project, which would require the ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights, early mornings, long days, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform all duties in a professional productive manner with the aim of delivering a superior level of customer service to ensure a successful event and experience for the client.
  • Position may require heavy lifting up to 50lbs on occasions.
  • Bilingual skills English/Spanish a plus

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and be internet proficient.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Forklift certifications is a plus.

While performing the responsibilities of the Transportation Agent job, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the Transportation Agent will encounter. This position works in both indoor and outdoor work settings with mild to adverse exposure to environmental hazards and weather conditions. The incumbent must be able to climb stairs and ladders and walk long distances to access all areas of the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to loud. Incumbents in this position work in varying settings and will be subject to noise and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odor, dust, etc. While performing duties of this job the employee will be exposed to moving vehicles.

 

While performing the responsibilities of the Transportation Agent, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is constantly required to exert various types of physical exertion, such as prolonged walking, standing, reaching, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

 

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

The work schedule of this position is based on business, event operations, and project needs. Must have the ability to work up to 35 hours a week as needed, which will require a flexible schedule availability including late nights, early mornings, weekends or holidays and the ability to remain available 7 days per week if needed.
