Overview

Under the guidance of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant will perform and coordinate accounting duties within our organization and perform any other task or duties the Accounting Manager and/or Director of Finance assign.

 

To be successful as a Senior Staff Accountant, you should have a strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. An outstanding senior staff accountant should also possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure. The ideal candidate is proactive and a collaborative professional responsible for supporting the financial infrastructure.

 

Salary Range $61,750 - $68,000

Benefits: Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).

The Bank of Oklahoma Center, also known as the BOK Center, is located downtown and serves as the premier sports and entertainment venue of the greater Tulsa region. Offering a19,199-seat multi-purpose arena and 565,000 total square footage designed to accommodate concerts, family shows and other special events and has been named on multiple occasions one of the country's best venues. 

 

The Cox Business Convention Center (CBCC), located in the Arena District in downtown Tulsa, is a modern and award-winning venue providing over 275,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.  Owned by the City of Tulsa for over 50 years, the CBCC has been host to every kind of event imaginable and proudly serves the citizens of Tulsa and guests from around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve Accounts Payable checks before distribution.
  • Approve Accounts Receivable invoices before distribution.
  • Participate in activities related to the month-end closing process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, variance explanations and financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly Accounts Receivable aging.
  • Perform bank reconciliation and account analysis.
  • Preparation, review and posting of accurate and timely complex general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Responsible for cost savings analysis and providing management with information for sound decision making by identifying issues and producing adequate management reporting
  • Monitor daily and identify, research, and reconcile account variances by conducting detailed analysis with a high focus on process improvement.
  • Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure all accounts are reconciled and discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Maintain overall accuracy and integrity of the general ledger records and reconcile cash, investments, prepaid expenses, fixed and intangible assets, accounts payable, accrued expenses, and intercompany accounts.
  • Attend event settlement as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting policies and reporting deadlines.
  • Oversee payroll processing and recording of the payroll. Assist with audit workpapers and reconciliations of accounts. Prepare and review schedules for internal/external auditors in connection with reviews/audits.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships by working cross functionally with other disciplines throughout the company providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures.
  • Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to multi-task between job functions.
  • Plays a key role in major projects and programs
  • Experience working in entertainment or venues is preferred.
  • Be a business partner and resource with other departments ensuring financial success of the venue.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate accounting.
  • Excellent math skills, high aptitude for figures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational ability.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers, customers, vendors and visitors to the facility.
  • Supervisory experience a plus.

In addition:

  • Requires ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA certification preferred).
  • Four to six years’ experience of accounting experience in complex organizations.
