Overview

Under the Assistant General Manager/General Manager supervision, the Director of Operations is responsible for all day- to – day and event-related facility operation. Additional responsibilities will include direct, supervise, and schedule all aspects of operations including operations crew, and working cooperatively with other departments to assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events.

 

This role will pay a salary of $80,000.

About the Venue

NOW Arena is an 11,800-seat multi-purpose family entertainment, cultural and sports center. Seating capacity for the arena ranges from 3,000-6,000 for theater shows; 9,400 for football, hockey, lacrosse and soccer games; 10,000 for basketball games and 11,800 for concerts. The Hideaway Brew Garden is adjacent to the arena where we provide live music and entertainment to the local community over the summer months.   

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all day-to-day and event-related facility operation including setup/break down of equipment, stages, tables, chairs, pipe & drape, barricade, etc.
  • Oversee all hiring, training, and scheduling of operation staff.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule that may at times include nights, weekends, overnights and holidays depending on show load-in, show hours and load out hours to assist facility staff and client and patron needs.
  • Develop ongoing relationships, service agreements and interact with service providers.
  • Participate in preparation and monitoring of annual facility budget.
  • Track and manage department budget on weekly basis including purchase orders, expense reports, payroll, etc.
  • Review and modify policies and procedures for facilities as required.
  • Provide cost analysis for operations as it relates to facility management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of internal and external customer service.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years operations or event management experience in an Arena, Convention Center, Stadium, or similar public assembly facility.
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational ability.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and implement procedures to correct/resolve issues.
  • Ability to perform effectively under significant pressure typically associated with meeting the demands and timetables of the entertainment industry.
  • Considerable knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA, ADA and other federal, state, or local laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of facility operating standards, building maintenance, changeover, custodial, personnel and office management
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with employees and others encountered through the course of employment.
