Overview

 Performs semi-skilled work in a variety of trades, and the operation of automotive, mechanical, electrical and air conditioning equipment.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $18.93.

Responsibilities

 

  • Performs rough carpentry work and repairs various types of wooden equipment and structures.
  • Assists in painting and building construction work.
  • Assists in major plumbing work and performs minor plumbing duties.
  • Operates a variety of light duty automotive equipment.
  • Assists in the major servicing of air conditioning and operates, cleans and performs minor servicing of air conditioning equipment.
  • Assists in operating computerized air conditioning temperature controls.
  • Assists in turning on/off lights throughout the facility.
  • Acts as a lead worker in the preparation of events.
  • Assists in the maintenance of parking lots and painting.
  • Assists the Electrical Department on minor and major hook-ups, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some knowledge of the techniques and tools, equipment or apparatus used in maintenance and operations in building and mechanical trades.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Good mathematical, organizational and attention to detail skills/abilities required.
  • Person must be able to lift heavy objects of varying weight and size.
  • General knowledge of facility maintenance required; some knowledge of mechanical trades desired. Basic knowledge of electrical trade desired.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

  • No certifications are required.

While performing the responsibilities of the Facility Technician/Helper, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is constantly required to exert various types of physical exertion, such as prolonged reaching, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

The Facility Technician/Helper works in indoor and outdoor work settings with mild to adverse exposure to environmental hazards.  The incumbent must be able to climb stairs and ladders and walk long distances to access all areas of the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to loud. Incumbents in this position work in varying settings and will be subject to noise and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odor, dust, etc.
