Overview

The On-Call/Part-Time Banquet Server will provide ultimate hospitality for guests in a fast-paced, high volume event & banquet environments.

 

This position requires the ability to work weekdays and weekends, with availability for some mornings, noon, and evenings shifts on an on-call/event based schedule. 

 

This role will pay a flat hourly wage of $16-$17.

About the Venue

The Palm Beach County Convention Center is a multi-purpose facility in West Palm Beach, Florida, managed by the Oak View Group. The Center features a 100,000 square-foot exhibit hall, a 22,000 square-foot ballroom and 21,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, as well as connecting to the 400-room Hilton West Palm Beach.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of the menu and any special items being offered.
  • Prepare event venue spaces by preparing roll ups, laying out tablecloths, place settings and more.
  • Daily services performed by Servers can include serving event attendees from beverage stations, coffee carts, concession stands, grab-and-go carts, buffets, and plated meals.
  • Provides quick, attentive, friendly and professional service to banquet guests and is able to communicate clearly with all customers.
  • Ensures that food items are served at proper temperature and immediately upon availability from the kitchen.
  • Ensures neat presentation of all ordered items, with no spill-over.
  • Pre-buses tables and full buses tables when necessary during peak periods and after completion of service.
  • Maintains availability to work during many peak periods.
  • Stocks beverage station(s) when necessary (ice, juices, glassware, sugar packets, etc).
  • Maintains high responsiveness to customer desires and requests.
  • Maintains a professional and clean appearance.
  • Communicates with bartenders, supervisors, and kitchen staff in order to improve communication and coordination so that patrons may be impressed by their dining experience.
  • Builds and maintains knowledge regarding bar offerings so that patron questions may be accurately answered

Qualifications

  • This position requires the ability to work weekdays and weekends, with availability for some mornings, noon, and evenings shifts on an on-call/event based schedule. 
  • Must be able to provide a written availbility on a regular and consistent basis to management 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume environment preferred
  • Must have a High School Diploma, G.E.D. or related Food Service Job Experience.
  • Must acquire and maintain a Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, and other required compliance trainings.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff and guest in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Physical ability to life and move heavy objects, such as boxes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
