Overview

This position should assist and provide all media services for the facility including video production, audio, and marquee message boards if applicable.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $18.00.

About the Venue

The VSU Multi-Purpose Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose venue located on the campus of Virginia State University, in South Chesterfield, VA. The arena is able to seat more than 6,000 guests, making it the largest events venue located south of Richmond in the state of Virginia. The amenities-packed arena serves as a full entertainment facility hosting athletic events, commencements, live concerts, family shows, trade shows, and more. Formally opening its doors to the public in March of 2016, the VSU Multi-Purpose Center is home to the Virginia State University Trojans Basketball and Volleyball teams. The MPC is managed by OVG360, which is a full-service venue management and hospitality company that helps client-partners reimagine the sports, live entertainment, and convention industries for the betterment of the venue, employees, artists, athletes, and surrounding communities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Basketball Game from an In-house Entertainment perspective.
  • Schedule part-time employees during all AV required events.
  • Hire and supervise all video operation staff for events as they pertain to the scoreboard and in-house television feeds.
  • Facilitate and erect audio and visual equipment for various events and internal needs.
  • Knowledge of lighting systems, CCTV, Broadcast TV, Scoreboard and electrical systems.
  • Perform off-season and preventive maintenance projects, and secure competitive bids for facility maintenance and repair projects as needed.
  • Working knowledge of non-linear video editing systems specifically New Tek TriCaster, video playback, replay, cameras and related hardware.
  • Provide support for University related sports for VSU athletics department.
  • Knowledge of all software and hardware related computer issues.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Operations.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Requires extensive knowledge of electronics and electrical systems, Audio and Video systems, lighting systems, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Prior supervision of A / V or similar staff strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience with video/matrix boards, at a fast paced arena or like venue.
  • Prior Optotech experience a plus.
  • Must be able to competently analyze and prioritize information to make appropriate recommendations.
  • Demonstrated sound organizational, coordinating and personal interface skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate with the public, other employees and vendors.
  • Proven job reliability, diligence, and dedication.
  • Must be flexible with working long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

Education and Formal Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electronics engineering technology or electronics or broadcast technology with work experience in Video/Audio Engineering.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum 1- 2 years experience with audio and video systems and Optotech video matrix system.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, TriCaster and other related software
  • Prior experience in an Arena is recommended but not required
  • The skills preferred for this position includes a wide knowledge base of audio, lighting, broadcast and video equipment currently used for live event production.
  • Previous working knowledge of Optotech equipment is recommended.
