Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Operation the Facilities/Maintenance Supervisor, directs, manages, and supervises the effective preventative and planned maintenance of site assets as well as troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems including but not limited to HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $28.85 to $33.17

About the Venue

The Blue Arena at The Ranch Events Complex, located in Loveland, Colorado, is a 6,800 seat multi-purpose venue, which opened in September 2003, and is home to the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League. The arena, which is owned by Larimer County, is managed by OVG360 and OVG Hospitality, the fastest growing firm in the public assembly facility management field with more than 300 facilities throughout the United States and Canada.

 

This multipurpose facility can host hockey, basketball, football, family shows in any configuration, rodeos, diverse concert settings in various capacities, trade shows and several dozen setups to accommodate just about any event. The Blue Arena, less than an hour's drive from Denver and Cheyenne, has become the focal point for sports and entertainment in Northern Colorado.

 

The Blue Arena is part of a larger 374,000 square-foot fairground complex called The Ranch which is the official name of the Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Complex. Phase I of the project included 6 buildings and roughly 150 acres of site work. The Ranch includes the Mac Equipment, Inc. Indoor Arena, two livestock pavilions, the First National Bank Exhibition Building and the Thomas M. McKee Building. The Blue Arena and The Ranch has become the sports, entertainment, and agricultural hub for one of the fastest growing areas in the country.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to service calls/work orders and carries out necessary repairs.
  • Program, operate and maintain computerized HVAC, lighting, fire alarm, and any other facility systems.
  • Perform minor electrical repairs and event setups (replace light bulbs, setting up event electrical)
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures (i.e. painting, carpentry, snow removal, salting sidewalks landscaping, etc.) and other tasks as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot necessary repairs throughout facility concession stands and kitchen on equipment including but not limited to sinks, ice machines, general repairs, etc.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Adjusts, dismantles, repairs, and assembles equipment.
  • Responds to facility emergency situations and takes necessary precautions for the well-being and protection of property and occupants.
  • Assist with general work involving ice maintenance, trade shows, concerts, conventions, family shows, and other events held at the Blue Arena
  • Operates equipment including but not limited to scissor lift (if licensed), forklift, electrical equipment, power tools, and general tools.
  • Conduct inspections of machinery and equipment.
  • Work with Operations Managers/Supervisors/Coordinators to maintain ice resurfacers, power edger, riding scrubber, vacuums, and other in-house equipment.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Assist in the major servicing of air conditioning and operates, cleans, and performs minor servicing of air conditioning equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in pertinent Federal, State and Local regulations
  • Assist with event and operational tasks as needed to help the overall success of the building.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all internal and external clients.
  • Work in accordance with Oakview Group safety policies / procedures, along with local, state, federal, OSHA guidelines

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or related trade school training.
  • Two years’ experience in building construction, repair and maintenance of building systems and equipment; experience with industrial refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, and ice rink refrigeration systems preferred.
  • Experience in the repair and maintenance of related building systems.
  • Experience working with pneumatic controls, HVAC cooling towers, centrifugal pumps, evaporator condenser equipment, re-circulating equipment, elevators, and generators.
  • Possession of Universal CFC license preferred.
  • Possession of Electrical License preferred.
  • Previous experience working in public assembly facilities, arena, and ice operations preferred.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills with a willing and pleasant attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements
  • Must be able to take direction, prioritize assignments, and give tasks to employees.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended number of consecutive days.
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of windows-based computers and the internet.
  • Ability to work independently, but still as a part of the overall team atmosphere helping promoters, tenants, clients, co-workers, and managers as required.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a live event environment.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Able to operate a forklift.
