Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Operation the Operations Supervisor, directs, manages, trains, supervises and coordinates event setup/tear down activities and supervises the day-to-day operations of the facilities and ice operations. The position provides leadership and direction to part-time and temporary staff in facility operations. 

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $24.00 to $28.37

About the Venue

The Blue Arena at The Ranch Events Complex, located in Loveland, Colorado, is a 6,800 seat multi-purpose venue, which opened in September 2003, and is home to the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League. The arena, which is owned by Larimer County, is managed by OVG360 and OVG Hospitality, the fastest growing firm in the public assembly facility management field with more than 300 facilities throughout the United States and Canada.

 

This multipurpose facility can host hockey, basketball, football, family shows in any configuration, rodeos, diverse concert settings in various capacities, trade shows and several dozen setups to accommodate just about any event. The Blue Arena, less than an hour's drive from Denver and Cheyenne, has become the focal point for sports and entertainment in Northern Colorado.

 

The Blue Arena is part of a larger 374,000 square-foot fairground complex called The Ranch which is the official name of the Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Complex. Phase I of the project included 6 buildings and roughly 150 acres of site work. The Ranch includes the Mac Equipment, Inc. Indoor Arena, two livestock pavilions, the First National Bank Exhibition Building and the Thomas M. McKee Building. The Blue Arena and The Ranch has become the sports, entertainment, and agricultural hub for one of the fastest growing areas in the country.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervises teams of part-time/contract staff during facility set-ups, teardowns, changeovers, and event housekeeping.
  • Oversee staff in the set-up and tear down of a variety of equipment, including, but not limited to chairs, tables, staging, risers, etc.
  • Responsible for thorough execution of daily check lists
  • Responsible for reading detailed event documentation and diagrams to accurately complete event setups.
  • Interview, select, train, coach, evaluate, and discipline part-time staff. Position will deliver a termination with approval.
  • Create a positive teamwork atmosphere, building team morale and a professional environment.
  • Mentor / coach employees to correct deficiencies; present/discuss discipline and termination procedures in a timely fashion, work with Human Resources as required.
  • Deliver and follow up on Performance Improvement procedures on a timely basis.
  • Lead/coordinate staff training and safety programs.
  • Supervise event operations for assigned day of show and changeover shifts.
  • Ensure staff are working safely and are aware of proper safety guidelines.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Operations and Operations Manager schedule part-time and temporary labor for changeovers, ice operations and housekeeping shifts.
  • Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the ice operations.
  • Maintain ice at AHL caliber including resurfacing, edging and maintaining ice depths.
  • Safely operates ice resufacer and other ice equipment before, during and after events & practices.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance plan for ice resurfacers and all associated ice equipment.
  • Maintain safe and playable boards and glass by inspecting and repairing boards/kick plates, glass poles and gates.
  • Operates an assortment of equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, pallet jacks, rider sweepers, rider scrubbers, walk-behind scrubbers, blowers, vacuums, and snow removal equipment along with folding chairs, stacking chairs, tables of various shapes and sizes, drapery, skirting and staging.
  • Responsible for safe use of various supplies including a variety of cleaning chemicals, mops, brooms, shovels, and scrapers.
  • Perform day-to-day building operations, maintenance, and special projects.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients to provide a positive employee climate.
  • Work in accordance with Oakview Group safety policies / procedures, along with local, state, federal, OSHA guidelines

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge in ice installation, maintenance, and removal.
  • Three years of experience in the operations of ice resurfacing equipment required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead teams in a fast paced, high-pressure event environment.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements and state, local, federal, company safety standards
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret event resumes for room sets.
  • Proficient computer skills in a Windows format including use of MS Office, Excel and Word
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks or event setups at one time and meet deadlines.
  • Forklift Certification or ability to acquire within 6 months in position.
  • Ability to work an event-driven schedule including shifts of 8 hours or more; on varying days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
