Overview

The Restaurant Manager is responsible to provide direction and oversight to all levels of restaurant and entertainment environment to ensure its profitable operation, optimum guest satisfaction and return visits. The Restaurant Manager will assist with the overall hospitality and customer service operation throughout the venue, ensuring maximum guest satisfaction, through effective approach to managing, planning and administration, organizing, directing, and controlling the restaurant and administration. The ideal candidate will employ and lead all staff by example, executing all food, bar and hostess/podium related functions.

 

This role will pay a salary of $60,000 to $70,000.

About the Venue

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is a performing arts center in Downtown Orlando, Florida, United States. It joined the Bob Carr Theater, which originally opened as the Orlando Municipal Auditorium in 1927, to become Orlando's main performance venue. The center's grand opening was held on November 6, 2014.

  • Responsible for all aspects of the effective management of Food and Beverage operation within a restaurant, bar and entertainment facility.
  • Achieve operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans. Prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and guest-service standards; resolve problems; identify trends; determine system improvements and implement positive change.
  • Assists in development of other business activities, community participation in appropriate groups and all other assignments as directed by the Food and Beverage General Manager.
  • Enhance department and overall business reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to accomplishments.
  • Foster teamwork. Lead, direct, mentor and guide unit staff and supervisors.
  • Actively coach, counsel, direct, train and mentor team in meeting company standards.
  • Oversee all aspects of employee relations to ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant and cooperative unionized work environment.
  • Manage, plan, organize, and execute the service requirements of each event and determines all scheduling and product components required to properly service events within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure total compliance with all alcohol service policies. Will effectively and compliantly address all alcohol service or compliance issues immediately.
  • Monitor beverage handling, cash handling and work safety compliance. Monitors product quality to ensure high level of guest service.
  • Ensure Point of Sale Systems (POS) are in working order. Audit for accuracy of Payment Card (PCI) compliance, charges and cash handling
  • Protect branded concepts through audits and compliance processes.
  • Conducts a walk-through of restaurant, catering and kitchen areas after completion of the event to ensure all areas are clean.

  • 2-3 years supervisor/manager experience in a similar setting.
  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Management and/or equivalent an asset
  • Familiar with inventory cost control and menu planning.
  • Basic computer proficiency: E-mail, Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Solid understanding and practical knowledge of restaurant business principles and etiquette.
  • Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation and product inventory. Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
  • Effective team management experience.
  • A proactive approach toward day-to-day activities and shifting demands.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage.
  • Competent with POS, Micros experience helpful and considered an asset.
  • An aptitude for identifying and assessing details.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proven to perform well under pressure; manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • An ongoing awareness and responsiveness to client satisfaction.
  • Available to work long hours, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
