Overview

The role of the Event Set-up/Laborer position is to set up and breakdown events. The job is a physical job and requires a great amount of standing and walking. Staff are also responsible for various maintenance-related tasks. Employees can get the opportunity to become trained on machinery such as the forklift, scissor lift, and pallet jacks. Employees will also be trained on electricity, staging, landscaping and a variety of other valuable job skills.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $12 to 14.00.

Responsibilities

 

Reports to: Operations Manager

  • Participate in all aspects of the conversion process for events.
  • Setting-up and tearing down flooring, chairs, barricades, staging, tables, other furnishings and equipment
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Meet the physical demands of this job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), bending, lifting, carrying, moving, climbing, working from various heights, and moderate to loud noises
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with other in both oral and written form
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Work effectively under pressure and stringent schedule to produce accurate results
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, other employees, and patrons encountered in the course of employment
  • Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, scissor lift or other light power-driven equipment. Training and certification provided.
  • Service and repair all equipment.
  • Clean and maintain all stall dumps, wash racks, and general grounds keeping.
  • Deliver feed and bedding twice daily.
  • Clean and preload horse stalls.
  • Check bathrooms, garbage, and building cleanliness.
  • Ongoing Maintenance of all barns, water, power, stalls, and roof.
  • Build and tear town arean for different horse events.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Possess superior interpersonal and strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, handle multiple tasks at one time, meet deadlines
  • Must be self-motivated with strong leadership abilities and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of operational equipment including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jacks, scrubbers, floor buffers, mechanical lifting devices, staging, retractable seating risers, basketball floors
  • Ability to follow written instruction, interpret AutoCAD drawings and blueprints
  • Candidates must be able to follow orders explicitly, be capable of working as part of a team, and be able to work well with other individuals. Candidates should be able to work alone if required, and be able to complete tasks up to and including final clean up and putting tools and supplies back to their assigned storage areas.
  • Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days and extended number of days
  • Forklift certification is preferred
