Overview

The Custodial Manager is responsible for ensuring the facility meets or exceeds standards of cleanliness to the utmost in guest satisfaction before, during, and after all events. The Custodial Manager must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities as well as be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

 

This role will pay a wage of $55,000 to $60,000.

The XL Center is Connecticut’s premier destination for sports & entertainment.
The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the five-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses.

 

The XL Center is also home to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.

 

The XL Center entertains millions of visitors annually with a variety of concerts, family shows, ice-skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows throughout the season. The venue has played host to an extraordinary roster of world-renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and many others.

 

The XL Center will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the State of Connecticut for years to come.

Responsibilities

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility operations with a focus on housekeeping
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and demanding hours including overnights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Ability to schedule and supervise part-time employees based on the needs of the building.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize quickly
  • Ability to communicate verbal instructions and read written instructions especially as relates to cleaning products and SDS
  • Ability to instruct light and heavy cleaning tasks including but not limited to cleaning bathrooms, locker rooms, etc., sweeping, mopping, and disposing of garbage.
  • Monitor the restocking and ordering of restroom supplies and trash removal
  • Assist in the training, coaching, and supervision of part-time custodians
  • All other tasks assigned by the Director of Operations

Qualifications

  • 3 years cleaning or event related experience required
  • High school diploma required. College degree preferred.
  • Prior lead or supervisory responsibilities preferred
  • Proficient with general office PC applications
  • Basic understanding of how to use cleaning equipment
  • Ability to operate scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors, etc.
  • Must be proactive self-starters able to work autonomously
  • Basic understanding of SDS and PPE
