Overview

Under general direction, performs advanced journey level and leadwork duties in the technical operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of various electrical, HVAC/R, and auxiliary systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of complex MEP systems in a widely dispersed building.

FACILITY FEATURES

The Saint Charles Convention Center contains 1,200 free parking spaces, 21 meeting rooms and breakouts, two elegant ballrooms, and an expandable exhibit hall with carpet and drape options. In-house services include delicious food and beverage, experienced event planners, audio visual, decorating, onsite security, marketing and more. 

Responsibilities

  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, control theory, NEC wiring standards, electrical troubleshooting & diagnostics, and HVAC control components
  • Install conduit, breakers, service disconnects, receptacles, lighting, switches, emergency lights, etc. and related devices
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment with an emphasis on HVAC: lubricate bearings, motors, pumps, change filters, clean coils, replace and align belts, clean condensate pans, etc.
  • Regularly monitor and adjust building automation controls to achieve optimum comfort and energy savings
  • Ability and willingness to rapidly learn new technical skills and apply them in the maintenance and operation of the facility
  • Participate in the support of diverse building needs including drain clearing, basic carpentry & sheet rock, and plumbing repairs to expedite the return of equipment or systems to service. Perform other diverse maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Perform event related duties, set-ups and coverage as assigned
  • Clearly, effectively, and timely communicate work issues with manager and staff
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients
  • Track daily productivity via timesheets, daily logs, and CMMS
  • Communicate arrival, location, and departure with Engineering Manager

Qualifications

Must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

 

  • Minimum of 4 years of direct experience in the electrical trade
  • Commercial experience needed
  • CT E-2 license required
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Experience with computerized building automation systems
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software, general computers and understanding of basic IT functions
  • Ability to communicate clearly in the English language, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
  • Analytical ability for problem solving
